CruisinCoach Posted December 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2006 We will be staying in Galveston precruise and want some gold ole Texas BBQ. I have found 2 restaurants on the island, Leon's and Queen's BBQ. Can anybody recommend one over the other? We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, so the closer the better. Tightlinerods Posted December 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Personally I cannot suggest those two but here is an Idea... Go to this website www.2coolfishing.com signup it's free and on the main page ask about them there are tons of folks from Galveston on that Board.... HoopsMom Posted December 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2006 We were at the Holiday Inn and the bartender recommended Queen's but warned us that it was a hole in the wall and not much to it - well, she was right - walk up and order and pay and they will find you with the food - but OMG the food - it was incredible. As a matter of fact - we ate there the night before our cruise and it was so good, we went straight there after the cruise and snuck in a quick lunch before leaving for the airport. It is our #1 stop before our next cruise in January. We had an assortment of entrees and sandwiches and every single bite was over the top wonderful! Be sure to save room for their desserts. There was a cobbler and some kind of tropical cake and thanks, now you really have my mouth watering!!
Miss Picante Posted January 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2007 Queen's Barbeque is worth driving down for a day early! Sure, it's in the old Texas style of plastic tablecloths, cement floors, and ordering at the counter. But it's fabulous! Sometimes we do dinner for four there for under $25! It's an important part of our pre-cruise warm-up. Just drive down Seawall Blvd. and when you get to Joe's Crab Shack, turn away from the ocean and go up one or two blocks. Queen's is on the corner on the right. Most times you won't even see another tourist there, just locals eating great barbeque!
