Last minute excursion

We will be visiting Belize in a week and have booked a cave tubing excursion. I have read about several occassions where this excursion is canceled at the last minute due to the water level being too high. Our second choice would be a snorkling excursion, but, not having booked ahead of time, what would be available at the last minute? Anything from the port? Should we catch a water taxi over to Caye Caulker? Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Since we were already booked on a cave tubing excursion that did go, I didn't investigate any, but there were dozens of people around the dock area with placards advertising tours of all kinds, including snorkeling, as well as some booths with the same.

We had planned on cave tubing also but it was cancelled due to high water. All of the snorkeling tours were also canceled that day due to unsafe water conditions, so you may or may not be able to substitute snorkeling for the day if the cave tubing is cancelled.

After you get off the tender, head right and you'll come across a blue shack that offers snorkeling and other water type excursions that you can book last minute.

If they cancel the ship's tour make sure you check to make sure your independent tour (if that is what you have booked) is still going. Back in June the ship cancelled all water sport tours due to heavy rain earlier in the week, but we still got off and found all of the independent cave tours were still running. They have a much smaller pax to guide ratio so they are often able to run when the ship tours are not able to go.

We booked our tour with Yhony and had a great time in the caves.... good luck and have a great cruise!
