japiscopo Posted July 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Has anyone taken the ferry from Copenhagen to Malmo Sweden? How long does it take? What is there to see or do or shop in Malmo?
olderpilot Posted July 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2004 japiscopo, Last summer we debated taking this day trip from Copenhagen, but decided against it when no one could give us a compelling reason to visit Malmo. Instead we spent the day taking the North Sealand Castle tour from Copenhagen. It was a beautiful day and could easily see Sweden across the water. I know this doesn't answer your question, but does gives you something to consider. Jerry
Eken Posted July 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Hi! Malmoe is a nice and walkable city (not more than 500,000 inhabitants) with some medieval buildings from the 1500's. If you want to find out more, go to: http://cityguide-europe.com/se/malmo/?menu=att;cat=/attractions/museums If I had some extra time while visiting Copenhagen I would go to the famous modern art museum Lousiana. It's located in Humlebaek about 35 km north of Copenhagen and trains leave from Copenhagen Central Station (Hovedbangaarden right next to Tivoli) at least 2-3 times an hour. They have a nice outdoor café where you can see Sweden across the water. More info in English can be found at: http://www.louisiana.dk/ If I still had some more time and felt like visiting Sweden I would travel on the train to Helsingor 10 km further north and take the Scandlines ferry to Helsingborg (the trip only takes 20 minutes). Then I would go for a walk along the harbor and visit the modern art museum The Dunker Culture Center (about 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal).
