Deb&Bert Posted December 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2006 Going on the Destiny next month and was wondering If anyone knew if you could use a WIRELESS laptop in YOUR OWN ROOM????? I called and they told me you have to take YOUR laptop to the Cafe and Plug in only???? Seems to me I saw others using laptops along the walk ways in the chairs by the windows in the past. ANY help would really be appreacated

mrdood Posted December 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2006 Destiny is not shipwide wireless, you will have to go to one of several public areas to connect. No discount for your own laptop v. the on board computers, and the speed is PAINFULLY SLOW, at least with the laptop you read and compose e-mail offline and connect just for delivery

Nightwind Posted December 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2006 When I was on the Destiny last March, I could only get a signal in the Onyx Bar, where the Internet cafe is. People using their laptops outside of that area probably weren't using the Internet. Unless, of course, things have changed since last March. Oh, in port in St. Thomas, I was able to pick up someone's unencoded wireless network from somewhere, though. :) But that might have changed since then, too. big_duck Posted December 20, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Thanks for the quick answers Sooner or Later I think Carnival Needs to Get these ships up dated. Love Carnival and this is going to be our 9th cruise. They are in the process. An answer you get from someone that sailed a couple of months ago may no longer apply. If you do a search, some people have posted the URL for the website of the company that provides the service. It goes into some detail about what areas of each ship are wireless hot spots.
