Booking Onboard - deposit amount?

The Loyalty Ambassador on Jewel announced at the repeaters' party that (some unspecified time in 2007) RCI is going to start allowing open bookings where you put down a "nominal" nonrefundable deposit without specifying an actual cruise. Then you could select your cruise once you're back on land. She didn't know what the amount would be. We will find that helpful because we're picky about our cabins and book cruises as soon as they're available so we can get what we want. We never seem to be on a cruise ship when that happens, so we seldom take advantage of the OBC.

You can transfer the booking to another cruise and retain the credit - you just need to make sure that you keep the original booking number. And yes, the deposit is the same whether you book an inside or the Royal Suite.

we are thinking of booking a cruise while onboard our next cruise... just how beneficial is this? how easy is it to make changes if something comes up and you have to move the date??

is the deposit the same no matter what category you book?

The deposit depends on the length of the cruise, not the category.

You get an onboard credit to use on the next cruise. For short cruises it is $50 per cabin, 6-10 day cruises it is $100; $250 for long cruises. (I may be off on the length of the cruises.)

You can move the date, ship, category and keep the credit AS LONG AS YOU KEEP THE ORIGINAL BOOKING NUMBER.

We have done this the last 2 cruises and love it! My DH says it pays for his beer for the week!
