Screwed over by Carnival PVP

:) JHAWK-- I agree with Halos and let it go. You did receive satisfaction and they backed up their original aggreement. Paln the wedding and enjoy, enjoy.

I also use a CCL PVP and am very, very happy with her. I guess it is the luck of the draw or Murphy's Law or something but whatever I wish you and your Bride the best of all things

$300 for couple. If you guys don't think you are going to spend $300 on-board you are sorely sorely mistaken unless you plan to spend the entire cruise in your room. If $300 is too much get yourself a refund and find a vacation that is more reasonable. My on-board bill for my family of five was $2750 and we did not go crazy. A little smoothy for the kids costs 5 bucks.

This will be our 4th cruise. We are not big booze-hounds, and we don't drink the pop onboard. I always book my excursions directly instead of through carnival, so have never exceeded a S&S card bill of $300 for the two of us. Believe it or not, we've had some really great experiences. I just don't like to throw away my money - I work hard for it.

I'm a similar cruiser to JHawk22. My 9/22 cruise to Hawaii will be my 7th cruise in 4 yrs, and I too average about $300-$400 on-board, including tips.

I almost never book excursions through the ship, and NEVER buy soda cards ( with all the free non-carbonated beverages available 24/7, AND soft serve icecream and yogurt, I see no reason to buy a soda card)A DON'T have to have several drinks a day, and that's not because I'm cheap.

While I play the casino, I don't charge any of that through my account - you pay additional fees if you do that.

I don't buy photos any more; I bought formal pics once on a previous cruise, and don't see the need to buy them for every cruise I'm on. I take my own pics for vacation memories.

I don't buy any trinkets or doodads on the ship.

So one does NOT have to spend alot on your onboard account in order to have a good time.

My PVP said she could match the lower quote I had from Costco. Since the deposit was just paid, I haven't received any confirmation in the mail. But, I have kept the E-mails I've sent reminding her that she agreed to match their price. She's been very helpful and I don't expect to have problems, however, I'm keeping these E-mails just in case.

good idea.. we had a problem with our orginal pvp ( who no longer is in the dept) and these ( all the emails to the orginal pvp) have helped .our problem is not completely ironed out yet and if i have to i will email the boss man :D but the situation has been improved upon but i'm still not completely satisfied..

Getting Bob Dickinson involved on this issue is silly. The problem has been resolved. A mistake was made by the PVP. It has been corrected and the OP has the deal that was originally given to her. People do make mistakes and in this case Carnival did come through even though it took a little more work than it should have. Go on your cruise and after you return if you still feel that you are not happy then by all means write a letter.

Would anyone recommend pushing the issue perhaps by writing a letter to Carnival? Yes, they have now made me "whole," but they have done nothing about the aggravation that my fiance and I have had to deal with for the past few days. We are planning a large wedding, and this was so unexpected and unnecessary...

I have to tend to agree with the couple of other posters that this situation should end right here. The problem has been corrected to your favor. People make mistakes. I'm sure it is not the first headache you and your soon to be spouse has had to deal with and I can assure you it won't be the last. Unlike the outcome of many others headed your way down through the years, Carnival corrected this situation, albeit, after a little arm twisting. In my opinion, there are more important things on your agenda right now, such as your wedding and the ensuing honeymoon cruise.

I have been on several cruises, married for 20 years, raised 4 kids; one still at home (teenager), one in the military, and the other two married with kids who still thinks Dad can write a check for anything, solve all their problems, and take care of 3 grandchildren with another on the way!

Trust me when I tell you, this little incident with this PVP will become soon become a laughing matter and one day you will look back and wonder how you ever thought it was a problem. Welcome to the world of marriage, kids, and life as you never imagined it. (haha).

Put this behind you. You don't need the additional hassle and aggravation of a problem that no longer exsists with all the other things going on in your lives. Life is too short friend, to sweat the little things.

Best wishes on your forthcoming marriage and honeymoon cruise!!!!

I'm glad to see that Carnival came through! I too think that since the issue has been resolved that you should just let it go. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

BTW, in reference to your screen name, any connections to KU?

I read each post thoroughly and I still have no idea what a PVP is!!!!! Maybe I've used one of these people when I've booked a cruise in the past and didn't even know they were a PVP :)

Sorry to hear about your "misadventure" with Carnival, JHawk. Several years ago, I worked as a full-time travel agant, and believe me....any mistakes or misquotes I made came right out of my not-so-deep pocket! It wasn't so much that I was pressured by management to do so...it was just the right thing to do. I wouldn't want to be given a price quote on something, and then be told a higher price, either. It sounds like it's all settled now, so I would agree with the others and encourage you to plan your wedding and get ready for the big event!! Congratulations!

I totally agree with Cotton, this shouldn't color everyone's attitude toward PVP's. Since March, me and 19 family members and friends have booked through my PVP and we have found that he does an excellent job in getting us the best prices available and returning our phone calls in a timely manner.

It is sad that the poster had such a bad experience with her PVP, but it looks like things have worked out nicely for her.

$2750!!! You've got to be kidding! Did that include excursions as well? Did you put your gambling on it? Assuming that 3 of the people were kids, how much Coke can you drink to get an average bill of $500 each.

We've been on 8 Carnival cruises, and most of those with kids. We've not spent a total of $2700 for onboard charges for all of them combined.

You can have a great time without spending a small fortune.

Since the original poster got the price fixed without resorting to additional credits, I think the issue is resolved. Hope they have a great time on their honeymoon.

You got the problem solved, the PVP probably got a really good telling off and she more than likely lost the credit for your reservation. She's already in enough hot water why would you want to write to Bob Dickinson and get him involved? She could lose her job. It was a mistake that has been corrected so why not just let it go now?

No one is perfect and mistakes do happen but taking it any further than you did AFTER it's been corrected I just don't understand.

One more thing I think the title "screwed over by Carnival PVP' was rather harsh as well. The PVP made a mistake she didn't screw you over!!! She certainly didn't pocket the money that's for sure and if she had THEN you could say you were 'screwed over'

I know this is off subject, but am I able to switch PVPs? I am not too fond of mine. I can't really put my finger on it, but he just doesn't sit well with me. I think he is mad becuase he called us and tried to get us to sign up for a cruise and we said no. He left us his extension to call him back if we changed our minds. A few weeks later we had changed our minds and I tried to call him back to let him know, but he was not available. So, I hung up the phone and called Carnival back and talked to some random rep. to book our cruise. I think he is unhappy that we didn't go through him, but I didn't care for him when he called the first time and I didn't want to have to wait to talk to him. Now I get some e-mails from him every now and then and I've spoken to him once on the phone with a question that I had, but I don't think he his all that helpful.

How would i go about getting a different one??

I had inquired on their website several different times over a weekend and was having trouble getting access, so I signed up with 5 different email addresses to gain pricing access each time. The male PVP called me 5 different times on Monday to let me know he was MY PVP and only to call him even after I explained to him the first time that I had already put a deposit down with a very nice reservationist at Carnival. I will take charge of who I talk to in the future, not who I'm assigned to for sure....

I've used 2 different ones. The first one responded to my query on the net, while the second one was the next one on the list when I called the 800 number. I'm a past cruiser, and when he pulled up my info he saw I'd used the other guy before, but there was no problem.
