cruisinbuddy Posted December 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2006 I've only ever cruised in January, not from Galveston though. As far as the weather goes, it's never been that rainy. Of 4 cruises we've had one rainy day and maybe a total of 2 hours of rain. We've had choppy water and we've had smooth as glass water.
texasnana Posted December 24, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2006 this will be our second cruise in jan.. last time in 2001 weather out of Galveston to Cozumel was great and nice and warm from a change in the cooler weather. clackey Posted December 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 24, 2006 Winter is our favorite time to cruise. We have taken 5 trips between Nov. 25 thru Feb.7. We missed Belize one trip because of high winds and it rained 2 days on our last trip, but temperatures are usually in the 80's. I can't imagine what it would be like in Cozumel or Belize in August. BonNYTX Posted December 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 25, 2006 All of our previous cruises were in July and HOT HOT HOT. Very uncomfortabe even while in the water. AND summer is hurricane season. This will be our first cruise out of Galveston in Jan, and so far I have heard of rough seas the first day or two going out and then usually much smoother and warmer weather. I think it's just how you hit it. As others said, some cruises can be smooth, some rough. Smooth sails to all.
EggDropErin Posted December 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 25, 2006 We love cruising in January. We find the weather to be a nice break from the cold midwestern snow and ice. Also, it makes for a nice break after the stress from the holidays. We haven't found it to be too crowded.
SarafinaSarafina Posted December 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 25, 2006 My first cruise was out of galveston the first week of january a couple years ago and it was wonderful. Temps were in the 80s the whole trip and we didn't have any bad weather or choppy seas at all. It was a perfect vacation for someone who hates cold weather (me). Backfence Posted December 26, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2006 We always take our cruises in January - last one out of Galveston. We have ALWAYS had exceptional weather going to the Western Carib. Great memories! CB
