wareagle1958 Posted December 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2006 When will NCL bring it's website into the 21st century? You can't book a cruise online and, if already booked, you can't send completed forms online. You have to print them out and mail them. I love NCL, but I now book with another cruise line. Their old site was much easier to use. You were able to complete your forms online and also book. Today I am not even able to view any of the deck plans - the page is just locked at the their home page. Mary Lou
heelfan94 Posted December 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2006 I agree that the web site still needs work, but it won't keep me from cruising with NCL. :)
alisa726 Posted December 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2006 Totally agree!!! I love that w/ princess I can choose what I want in the room (soda choice, robes, etc) and really get excited about my cruise knowing that I have everything in order ahead of time. Also where are the wine packages on NCL?? No where to be found. Don't they want more of my $.
CruisinMatt Posted December 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2006 I think you can still get to the old version of the website. Shoreguy posted some links a while back. I'm sure he'll reply here soon.
richtersl Posted December 28, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2006 They've had the new site up for a couple of months now. One would think that they would have enabled the ability to book your own cruise on line by now...unless they have no intention of re-enabling that feature. Now that would be a real kick in the a$$. Is anyone here in contact with somone who works in their IT department who can let us know what's going on? Most of the old site lives in the freestylecruising domain You can still book here https://seaweb.it.ncl.com/consumer/ And access most of the old information from this page. Just don't go to the home page it takes you back to the new and "improved" site  http://freestylecruising.com/more/index.htm

I have in the past contracted the VP of online marketing. They will have the ability to book online. The original accelerated time line was 8-10 weeks after the premature launch of the site driven but the introduction of the new marketing program in Oct. They are late.
mbisson Posted December 28, 2006 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2006 Funny thing is (was) I always thought the old site was satisfactory. Maybe not flashy, but I could find what I wanted. Some (actually quite a few) complained about the appearance of the old site. Guess I'm old school enough that bling in a website just doesn't mean much to me. -Monte

Not pretty but all the info was there. More hard info then most of the other cruise line sites. The Freestyle section does give everyone a better view of the ship with the videos and all. Again that is nice but what is needed is the beef. Go ahead I dare anyone to fine the basic cruise contract on the new site:rolleyes: Two clicks to here on the old site http://www.freestylecruising.com/more/contract.htm

foursum Posted December 28, 2006 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2006 It does seem to be getting better. Yesterday I was able to log on- finally--and to print out the excursions for our next cruise. Couldn't print as recently as last week. I still go to the old site for cabin availability, rates, cancellation fees, Casino at Sea Registration, etc.
osiebosie Posted December 29, 2006 #14 Share Posted December 29, 2006 I just went to freestylecruising.com and got the new website. I would like to go online and find my info where NCL registered me and make sure everything is correct. They had me down as having no Latitudes number, and we just cruised with them last year. But, I cannot figure out how to do that. I have a horrible fear that when we get to Charleston that some info may be incorrect and we may have a problem. KeystoneCruiser Posted December 29, 2006 #15 Share Posted December 29, 2006 My complaints about the new site: 1.) When I still had dial up, (I got broadband as a Christmas gift!!) it wouldn't load and I couldn't use it at home. Had to use it at my parent's house. 2.) No cabin search booking engine, which means: a.) Can't book online b.) Can't see what cabins are still available c.) Can't price out different catagories and add airfare, insurance, etc. 3.) Much harder to find NCL news section. 4.) Much harder to read ship deck plans. Even when I blow it up, it is still not as easy to read as the old ones. 5.) Much harder to find information out about wines and other purchasable packages. It seems that they attempted to be as flashy as possible, (which is nice and makes the site more exciting), but in exchange they gave up functionality. Like someone said, it is has been online almost three months now, don't you think it is time to get it fixed? We can't be the only ones pointing out these problems to NCL. So, in both cases, the public gets to beta-test the product.
