Which cruiseline are you taking? As I'm having the same questions looking at the Holland America excurions to St Johns.

 

I went on a roadtrip to the Maritimes in 2002 and didn't get into NB but considered visiting St Andrews & St Martins - both had lots to see. And one is home to a chocolate factory

The chocolate factory (Ganongs) is actually in St. Stephen, right across the border from Calais, Maine. St. Andrews is a very nice little village, very scenic, and with a wonderful botanic garden, one of the best in Canada. St Martins used to be a shipbuilding place in the days of sail, and now is a quiet little village on the coast. Very interesting scenic places in the vicinity, and it's also close to Fundy Trail which is spectacular in spots.
