Paula B Posted January 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2007 We are going on the Crown 4/14/07 and have booked "Exploration of SE Peninsula by 4 WD" through the ship at St. Kitts. They are former British Army Troop Trucks and sound like a lot of fun. I would like to know if anyone has went on this tour and how they liked it. Thanks in advance, Paula B (Southern Indiana)

ucsbgirl Posted January 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2007 My husband and I were just on this tour in December. We had a great time. THe guide is native to St. Kitts and knows a lot about the island. THe drive is beautiful, there are lots of stops for pictures. The beach were were taken to was cockshell beach, it was great because we took the morning tour and were the only people at the beach. DOwnside: the bar at the beach did not open up until we were just about to leave. THe water is clear and calm; great views of NEvis. Overall, we would take this tour again! Hope this helps. LA_FadeAway Posted January 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Thanks for the report. Would you recommend this trip for a first time visitor to St. Kitts or would we be better off doing a "standard" island tour?
hawkshoe Posted January 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2007 We just came back and we took this tour. It was really nice. Our guide was very good and very informative. We got to get out at several scenic vista's to see some of the island. We then got out for a short walk and talk where we learned more about the island and the salt lake. Afterward we were escorted to Cockleshell beach. It is a nice small beach, with few people on it. There were many many shells and we even found some beautiful starfish in the water. Our guide also provided us with rum punch and a nice snack spread, of cookies, fruits and breads. We would recommend this tour. Ours was booked through our Royal Carribean cruise. ucsbgirl Posted February 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2007 This is a great tour for first time visitors, we had never been to St. Kitts prior, and felt we saw a lot. We did the morning tour and had time to change, eat on the ship and walk around town.
Liz Pereira Posted February 1, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Yes, you are allowed to collect shells on the beach and keep them. You will lots of wild life if you go down the highway to the southeast peninsula. (Monkeys, cows, goats, egrets, mongoose, etc)
hawkshoe Posted February 1, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2007 We saw lots of sheep and cows and even a few monkeys. Yes, we collected and kept the shells. They were different that what we find on our local beaches so my kids enjoyed them.
