annemarie Posted July 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2004 This is a question for longtime Princess cruisers. Some of my fellow cruisers on the Grand in Sept. say that muster drill is after we sail but I think it is before we sail. We are trying to set up a time to meet on board and I do not want to have to go for the drill during our meeting. Any info would be appreciated. bostongal Posted July 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2004 In April on the Diamond it was before we sailed. Meg
AlainBob Posted July 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2004 On each and every cruise we went, the muster drill was approx. 1 hr before sailing time... I'm not sure, but I think it is the law that the drill must be before sailing... Alain R.
stoneharborlady Posted July 23, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2004 Two weeks ago on Carib. Princess muster was held at four, and we sailed at five.
srphnx Posted July 23, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2004 Actually the US Coast guard regs requires that the drill be: On voyages of one week or less, the drills must be held within 24 hours after leaving port. http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/cruiseship.htm
AlainBob Posted July 23, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2004 Thx for the link srphnx ! It also says: On voyages that will last more than one week, the first drill will be held before the ship gets underway (passengers who embark at the last minute sometimes miss this drill), with additional drills at least once a week thereafter. PeabodyNVL Posted July 23, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2004 On my cruises, it's always been prior to sailing. Usually, they also do a "make-up" muster drill the next day for those who may have missed the first.

Kathysum Posted July 23, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2004 Same here, we had our muster drill prior to sailing on the Diamond Princess - on the July 10th sailing. Our meeting place was the casino - what fun! LOL Kathy
