LoveDeck10 Posted January 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2007 I cruised in the early 80's on the Sitmar which I understand was purchased years ago by Princess. In fact, it was on this forum that I heard a passenger received credit as a repeater on a Princess Cruise when she had only cruised previously on Sitmar. Is this true? I understand that Princess, Windstar and others are part of a cruise consortium or perhaps owned by the same company and offer "repeaters" or "alumni" credits to passengers that cruise on the sister lines. If both statements are true, should I expect "alumni" discounts on Windstar having never sailed on them before? I'm considering a Windstar cruise and the extra discount would be nice. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. As far as I know, you will get credit for your Sitmar cruises but not any other ship. Even though Carnival Corp owns Princes, Hal and others, they all have their own loyalty programs. Lola in Hamilton

spongerob Posted January 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2007 The various lines owned by Carnival Corporation (Carnival, Princess, HAL, Cunard, Windstar, Costa) supposedly offer what they call "VIP" discounts for people who have sailed on other CCL lines, but from what I can gather you can do better without the discount by going through a cruise specialist travel agent. Yes, it's true - you can have former Sitmar cruises added to your Princess Captain's Circle. Just call 1-800-PRINCESS and ask to be connected to the Captain Circle Desk. The agent will take your cruise history details, verify it and then add the cruises to your personal record.

Thanks for your help. I may be the person you were talking about. Prior to my October Crown cruise, I had never sailed on Princess, yet I am a Platinum member due to my many sailings on Sitmar back in the 80's. If you have any prior Sitmar or Swan Hellenic cruises, they count toward your Princess Captain's Circle account. Unfortunately, I can't bring those credits to other "Carnival Corp" cruiselines. So, even though you may be Gold, Platinum or Elite on Princess, don't expect the same level on Windstar or other Carnival Corp cruiselines. Oh well...
Druke I Posted January 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2007 P&O (UK) cruises also count for Captain's Circle levels. I had two cruises on the old Oriana ('64 & '70) and one on Sitmar's Fairsea ('78), and all count towards my Elite status with Princess. I don't know if Princess also counts P&O (Aus) in Captain's Circle levels.
