pakmount Posted January 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2007 We are sailing 7/14 Carnival Glory out of Port Canaveral. We will be flying in the day before and are wondering about transfers and if they are worth the $. We are first time cruisers and our agent made the whole thing sound pretty confusing. Stay at hotel, transfer back to Airport in am, to catch the transfer bus. Sounds like a lot of traveling, when we could possibly stay at a hotel closer to Ship and get a shuttle or something. Any help would be great on how we should approach this. Thanks!
tuvok37 Posted January 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2007 We just got off the Glory at New Years and this is what we Crazy Canuks did. We rented a car at the Orlando airport (Budget) and drove to Port Canaveral - really easy on the Beachline takes you straight there in about an hour. Dropped the car off and took the Budget shuttle to the pier. Did the same on the way back. It was cheaper for us to do that than pay for 2 x transfers each way. Hope that helps. Also, there's a beautiful new Marriott in Port Canveral. Stay on the top floor and you can see the Glory from your room!!!
pakmount Posted January 16, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Thanks, that sounds a little easier actually. Did you enjoy the GLory? We have teenagers traveling with us. Did we make the right choice of ships?

We're essentially planning on doing something like this day before: fly in the morning before, book a hotel room for the night and rent a car for the day and to drive to Port/Cape Canaveral the next morning. We're going to hit Epcot or the Magic Kingdom that day while in Orlando. My question is, if we don't want to rent a car for the trip back to the airport after disembarkation, what are our options for getting back to the Orlando airport? Are there taxis at the pier? If so, how much can I expect for them to cost?
jman_in_minnesota Posted January 25, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2007 when I was playing around with options on the Carnival cruiseline website, their transfers from Port Canaveral to MCO were $35/person so for 2 ppl you're looking at $70. I'm renting a car from Thrifty for Canaveral to MCO and the total cost was $31 with a corporate discount code from Orlando Magicard website (corporate code 004M001010)
#1parrothead Posted January 25, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2007 Thanks for the Orlando Magicard info. It saved me over $100 on our car rental for the land portion of our trip after the cruise. :)
