RVMamas,

If I remeber correctly you should sit on the left side of the train. My "in laws" rode the train when we all were on our Alaska cruise. Jennifer & I rented a car and drove to Emerald Lake. It was a great drive, beautiful scenery. Check on the Alaska boards you should find the answer there. Budget Queen answers most of the questions over there and she is the expert on Alaska.

Hi y'all,

Has anyone taken the White Pass Scenic Railway excursion? I was wondering which side of the train is best to sit on?

Winnie

I went on the White Pass last May on my cruise to Alaska. It is the left side of the train on the way up (best time to view because the train goes slower). When you get to the top, you flip your seats over so that you're still in the same seat but now you're on the opposite side. If for some reason you can't get on the left side, you'll still be able to see the scenery on the way down, just take fast pics because the train won't slow for photo ops.

We were about 3 cars from the back and it was the best because the guy at the front would say what photo op was coming and we had time to prepare. We even saw a bear sh*tting in the woods. I kid you not. (Probably the only reason he stood still!) :D

RVMamas,

Prepare to get hooked! I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience. I think you may be spending more time going from departure port to departure port in your RV than any place else!

I love reading all these posts! I'm just looking for anyone who might be joining us on the POAm on August 4. We'll be on the islands for 3 weeks, in Waikiki for the first two nights and then - yippee! We'll take this cruise for the first of those weeks and then will be on the Big Island for the last 2. We've taken several cruises together. But, it always takes a bit of time to get a feel for the passengers. So, if you're planning to be there, write back!

We just booked the Carnival Pride Mexican Riveria Jan 13, 2008.

It makes 3 stops Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan & Cabo.

Jennifer is calling it our "Love Boat" cruise. Everytime she does I hear the the theme song to the old tv show in my head :D .

Anybody intrested in joining us??

We are now offically cruise junkies...we have 2 cruises booked at the same time and are thinking about Bermuda with Jennifer's parents in Sept. 2008.

I live in Albuquerque. I finally got sick of the humidity in Florida and moved West.

Wow! Small world. Too bad the ships don't dock in the Rio Grande! ;)

(I just love it when I venture into the big ol' WWW and find somebody in my backyard!)

Frchteaze,

Which cruise are you going on in 10 months? I am going to the Mexican Riviera in October with Olivia.

Its been fun reading and catching up. We are back from our Panama Transit (our first cruise) and yep like everyone has said on here we are totally hooked.

I get motion sick (badly) however we went thru some bad weather and with bonamine and the occasional gravol ... no probs at all.

Weather was fantastic and all was very nice.

Would recommend HAL anytime.

I'm going on the R Family Vacations one (the Rosie cruise). It's also on the HAL Oosterdam. Same cruise as yours, just a different group of folks.

It's expensive, but probably no more so than Olivia. I hear Olivia is great, but I'm taking my mom with me and I think I'll like the greater diversity of RFV. We'll see in 10 months if the extra $$ is worth it. From what I read on the RFV boards, I'm gonna love it!
