Lesbian Couples who love cruising

Hey sunnyshine, where did you get that nifty CC ticker for your sig?

I also think you would not have any problem at dinner. I think RCCL still has traditional dinner seatings, and it would be a shame to miss the experience. Give it a try, and if you don't like it, you can either request a change or just not go back. When my wife and I took our first cruise, we were seated the first night at a table full of loud boisterous people that made us both nervous. Fortunately we were able to be reseated at a table for two! There's no guarantee that you'd get a table for two or even just a smaller/different one, but it's always worth asking. :)

Etoile,

Have fun in Las Vegas! It's not a cruise, but enjoy it anyway. Do you enjoy gambling?

Bonnie and I like the casino's on board the ships, but we've also done Vegas. She likes blackjack, but I like the slots. I know the odds aren't good..but the potential is great and I think they're really fun.

Any other gamblers out there?

I love sea days so I can spend more time in the Casino. I usually enter the slot tournaments and Bonnie enters the Blackjack tournaments. So far, neither of us has won...but we've each made it to finals once and gotten T-Shirts!

I used to just play the slots, but when we were on the Elation with my niece and her BF(now husband) she taught me how to play roulette and now I'm hooked. I was dissappointed when then didn't have a casino on our Hawaii cruise:( . So I'm really ready for our cruise on the Conquest this Sept.

Actually I don't know a thing about gambling. On cruises I usually spend $10-20 in the slots and that's it. I am not planning to gamble much in Las Vegas...I don't know how to do most of the stuff! But I am really looking forward to the trip.

Those slot machines are addicting! I cant wait for those! Sit down with a cold fruity drink and play away. Haha I could get in trouble in there, I have to only take so much with me and say thats it for the day. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Connie and I have been to Reno, Vegas, and Tunica for gambling. We both love the slots! I like Reno the best, it's more like the old Las Vegas.:D

Mithryl,

I'll be sure to check for your review of your Hawaiian cruise in a couple of weeks! I'm sure it'll be spectacular. We're fairly active and Hawaii would be a great place for kayaking, hiking, etc. Do you guys like all the active stuff or more of the laid back beach thing? Have you been on a cruise with that many sea days?

I can't say the Mexican Riviera was our first choice for cruise locations, but neither of us have been to Mexico (other than TJ and Nogales) and I've got active excursions planned in all the ports so GF will be very happy and then we can get back to the boat, kick back and have some cocktails. We're also traveling with a gay male couple so at least we'll have some company.

Anyways, happy sailing!

Who out there will share their formal night photos??? I would love to see what the well dressed lesbian wears to formal night as I don't do dresses...Thanks!

My partner also never wears dresses. She wore dress pants and blouses on our cruise. I seriously wouldn't worry about it.

We also love the gambling on the ship, or anywhere else for that matter. My first cruise I took the Craps lesson and love the game. Very fast... my partner prefers Black Jack. I would miss a ship without the casino.:(

Heading out to Niagara Falls for the night tomorrow. Wish me luck,

cheers,

Hi all! This is a great thread. My wife (33) and I (30) are going on our 2nd cruise this summer, the June 23rd sailing of the Diamond Princess to Whittier. Can't wait!

We had the misfortune of having to go to Honolulu last summer for a conference for me (what a terrible place to go to learn, let me tell you), and then cruised on the Pride of America. Now I'm hooked on cruising.

I was a bit apprehensive at first of going on a "straight" cruise, but like others have said, we can have several vacations for what Olivia would cost us. Everyone was just awesome to us on NCL- several crew proceded to tell us about their SO's at home :) Never a single problem with us just being us. I hope that Princess will be as open. Anyone cruise with the to Alaska? Any problems/concerns (with either the cruise or people at the ports)?

I am a bit worried about the formal nights as well- the picture did help some, at least for my wifey. The wife doesn't do dresses at all, unless under force (think bridesmaid at my sisters wedding, or at our wedding 5 years ago). I can/will wear a dress if necessary, just not my first choice. My wife has a nice pantsuit, but I don't. I do have a nice summer type dress- nicer than a sundress, but not exactly a cocktail dress. How fancy does one have to be? I'm afraid they want all-out cocktail style dress, in which case I'll toss in the towel and get a pantsuite for myself.

As for those here who are land-locked, we're right there with you (unless sailing out via the Great Lakes is a viable option), and currently freezing my rear off. It's a sad day when a high of 12 is making you happy, but it beats 0/2 that we had been getting earlier this week. I can NOT wait for spring!

My partner Mary and I were also very worried about formal night and avoided it entirely until our last cruise. We put an article about how we dealt with formal night in our most recent LezCruise newsletter and I've also put it on our blog - http://blog.lezcruise.com/?p=49 . On formal night, Mary wore a dress and I wore a skirt and yuccy sparkly blouse. Other nights on the ship I often wore pants. Got some great black slinky pants at Mervyn's.

OK.....so both us love cruising and eating in the dining room..but hate dressing up.....I guess we are just 2 dykes. We have been on 4 cruises and the Hawaii cruise was by far the most informal.

We are going on the Carnival Conqest in Sept. and now I'm a little concerned. I have been following a thread on the Carnival board about the Conquest and other CCr's on that thread say that on formal nights the dress code is enforced. Now don't jump to conclusions...we do dress nice, nice slacks and a shirt but I refuse to wear a dress or skirt....I think it's because I went to Catholic school for 8 yrs. and had to wear a dress everyday. Anyway, do you think this will be ok??

My partner and I have been together for four years and are taking our first cruise together on 3/15. We are cruising on Carnoval Sensation for three days. Ot will be her first cruise so I wanted to take it slow. We are so looking forward to it. I really wish we knew if any other lesbian couples were going to be on board.

Hello Ladies,

I would not worry about a thing. I don't like wearing a dress or skirt. I think the last time I did so was about 20 something years ago. Yet I have never felt out of place in any formal affair. Get a pair of basic black dressy slacks, and some sort of glittery top, and you will blend in quite nicely. We've only taken one cruise before and are going in our 2nd in August, but we really enjoyed our two formal nights during our first cruise. Dressing up just makes one feel so special.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary (we met in kindergarden:D ) last year with a pretty fancy party, and I struggled slightly over that one, cause my hon did not want me to wear black (it's my favorite dressy color). She was adamant about it, so I ended up with a beautiful ivory blouse and short tailored blazer, along with ivory dressy slacks (an outfit similar to 2rowboats). BTW 2rowboats, you both look very nice in that picture. That's exactly the way my better half and I would dress.

Just remember the most important thing is having a beautiful time together. Life is so capricious. One never knows what awaits you, so just enjoy. Maritza and I have had a beautiful life for the past 25 (well now almost 26 years), and our celebration in May was the best day among many wonderful days filled with great memories. In October of last year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily it was caught in the very early stages, and she's almost done with the radiation treatment, but it does put everything into perspective. So ladies, don't sweat the small stuff, and just have a blast in your respective vacations.;)

Thanks for putting things into perspective Luv2Travel81,

We tend to wear the "basic black" slacks with really dressy tops as well. The right jewelry and a jacket or shawl can make a big difference as well. But as you say, don't worry about the small stuff. It's all meant to be enjoyed, so as RCCL would say..."Just get out there!"

We stopped having some of the formal pictures taken several cruises ago. Maybe this time we'll do some just for fun.

Happy cruising!

You are both very strong women and are an inspiration to me. Keep up the good fight and the wonderful attitude. You very eloquently put this formal dinner fear of mine into perspective. Good Luck and God Bless you both.

My wife and I are both femme and I for one love getting dressed up! I think she does it just because I like it so much. We're both the dress-wearing type. She will never let me post pictures of our formal pictures together, so here's one from the RSVP cruise I was on by myself:

Not to worry! We went on the Conquest in November and to formal nights we both wore just pants with some sparkly tops. No one threw food at us or deprived us of desert (I was afarid THAT might happen). We were aware of the "enforcement of dress code", however there were people way dressed down as well as those who were way dressed up. Never ran into the fashion police (probably a good thing) and had a great time. Understand about the Catholic school thing.. went to one as well.

So back to the formal night deal- on our next cruise this summer that is one issue I am not going to sweat.

funlady,

Thanks.....we have always just worn slacks and a shirt...neither one of us likes to wear sparkly things. But I was a little afraid of the fashion police that would enforce the dress code. And believe me.... me in a dress is not pretty sight:p .

BTW, did you by chance do Stingray City in Grand Cayman?
