I have just checked carnival.com and my guaranteed room went from 7a to 8g. Can someone get upgraded that much?

we were upgraded from a 4a inside to a 8f balcony so yep it can happen

Gosh why can't I be that lucky!!! Good for you! I never get upgrades or discounts, I guess I just have good taste in rooms b/c I am very picky when I first call so I get what I get but it's not cheap.

We'll be on the Miracle next week and went from a 5a to 8f category when we recieved our documents in the mail. So very surprised and happy. :rolleyes: We have always booked balconies before but thought we'd try OV to save alittle money. This our third cruise with Carnival, first time booking directly with CC and its our 25th wedding anniversary. I'll probably end up donating enough in the casino to cover the difference in pricing.:p

How are people getting all these suprize upgrades without even knowing about them?

 

Don't you lock a specific cabin at booking?

 

Or do these surprize upgrades only apply when booking an 'inside gaurentee' or 'balcony gaurentee' ?

Yup ... pretty much, though upgrades on selected rooms can happen.
