Hi guys, i know this topic has been discussed before but i want to know if anyone has any stories about bringing booze on the ship and getting caught... or getting away with it? .is it mostly possible to sneak it on...how do they screen checked in luggage?>

Well I guess that leaves the two of us to pack our own!! Pretty sure everyone does it, and I havent heard to many people getting caught. Just make sure its not excessive, and that you are smart about it. Just pack it tight and good (in your carryon)!

Let me be the first to tell you that although someone out there may actually answer your question........you will also get the following:

*smuggling is against your cruise contract

*smuggling is against the rules

*what kind of example are you setting for your children?

*do you lie at work also?

*you are raising the price of the cruise for everyone

*the stocks are sure to drop if you all keep smuggling

*this is exactly the sort of thing that makes Carnival look cheap

 

I am sure I am missing a few comments........however, how about no one say the above comments and ONLY respond if you can answer the OP's original question! Whadya say? Or am I ruining all your fun?

I think you meant checked bags. Carryon is much more likely to get you caught. ;)

Wrap in bubble wrap and pack in your checked luggage.....never a problem. The bubble wrap (we always take extra) can be used for the return trip, bringing home the duty free purchase, since you can no longer carry it on the plane.

You forgot "I am anal and feel it is my duty to chastise you for even thinking of smuggling". :)

We brought a bottle of Amaretto and a bottle of Souther Comfort. We had it in our luggage and had no problem at all bringing it on board.

 

But. I must tell you that we had some the first night and never bothered to drink in our room again. It is just no fun for us to drink alone. The socializing was much more fun on deck.

 

We took most of what we brought on board home with us.

Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Day:

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the steakhouse. (A corkage fee is a charge exacted at a restaurant for every bottle of liquor served that was not bought on the premises)

On embarkation day, each guest may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages on board and only in their carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 bottles and/or cans, 20 ounces each or less.

Just don't pack it in your carry on baggage, and the odds are in your favor.
