txmomto1,

My first cruise is Sunday, but I have logged many hours on this site and can answer your questions. :)

OK, I tried to scan the thread, but I went cross eyed. We leave in March, and it has been almost 2 years since we cruised out of Galveston. In theory, we might be able to board earlier, but the official time is 1 PM right?.

Official time is 1:30pm, but posters on CC have reported boarded as early as 11:30am.

We can pre-pay and park at EZ Park, for $50?? Right??? Is there a better option?

EZ Park seems to be the most popular. Yes it is $50 if you pay by credit card on the website the day before you park.

Lighthouse parking is 2 blocks further from the terminal and costs $45, but nobody ever mentions it. Here is a link to all parking options.

http://www.galveston.com/parking/step2.asp?NumberCars=1&Ship=2&x=45&y=19

I can check in on-line, and print all of my documents ahead of time, right? How far in advance can I do that?

Yes, you can print your documents ahead of time, I did! I read somewhere here that someone could do it 6 months in advance. You can access everything by clicking the link "My Reservation" on the site.

Have a great cruise!

We ordered room service for breakfast and just packed up and did self assist when they called our deck ( Riveria ) . We cleared customs quite quickly and walked right on the carnival bus to IAH. The bus was full and we left within a few min. I think they just leave as they fill up. And we were in Houston by 0930.

I know this has been asked before, but I was informed the rule had changed. Can you still bring a case of diet coke on board per person, if it is still in the original package?

I always take a 6-pack of 20oz plastic bottles. The guideline I believe is a reasonable amount. IMHO a case would probably make it, but several (or per person) may draw attention. Good luck.

BTW-I'm located west of West, Texas, but not west Texas.

We did back in September. Though honestly, I question if it was worth lugging all that extra weight around before boarding. Then again, if you are one of those people that just have to have a certain brand of beverage (Caf Free Diet Mt Dew for me and the wife!), it's really your only option.

Short answer (I know too late), no problems!

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. Can you write a check for cash at the pursers desk? I remember doing this on our RCCL cruise for tips and such...I'd rather not have to bring on a bunch o' cash with us if we don't have to.

Thanks in advance!

Carnival no longer cashes personal checks. You can cash Traveler's Checks at the Purser's desk. The ships also have an ATM but many times it runs out of cash mid-cruise. You can also buy casino chips that you can cash-in. The charge used to be 3% but the Carnival web site says it has increased to 5.5%. Several recent cruisers have posted here that they were only charged the 3% so YMMV.

You can read the carnival "access to money on board" FAQ here.

Sailing on 1/20, and I sailed this cruise last year, but because I'm old (and therefore more forgetful than ever), I have forgotten some key details. Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance!

1) If my spouse and I arrive at the terminal at 10:30 a.m., will we be able to begin the check-in process? If so, any estimates on how long it might take us to get onboard?

2) Can I make a reservation at The Point prior to my sail date, or must I wait until we sail?

3) Has anyone had any trouble using the documents they printed from the site (as opposed to using documents mailed to you via snail mail from Carnival)?

4) Has anyone stayed on the 10th deck, and if so, how was it? (I stayed on Deck 7 on the last cruise.)

My apologies if these questions have been addressed somewhere else on this thread. I'm under a bit of a time crunch and can't currently go back and read all prior postings.

Again, many thanks!

Boarding typically begins at or shortly before noon. You will be able to check-in when you arrive but you will have to sit and wait.

You can make reservations for the Pointe online. The link is posted earlier on this thread, sorry but I don't have it handy.

3) Has anyone had any trouble using the documents they printed from the site (as opposed to using documents mailed to you via snail mail from Carnival)?

We aren't in a rush for our documents so we still use snail-mail docs, can't help.

4) Has anyone stayed on the 10th deck, and if so, how was it? (I stayed on Deck 7 on the last cruise.)

We stayed on Panorama deck on our first cruise, 1024, and Empress deck on our second 7453. While we liked the aft extended balcony better, we loved the Panorama deck. It is very quiet and the views are terrific.:)

My apologies if these questions have been addressed somewhere else on this thread. I'm under a bit of a time crunch and can't currently go back and read all prior postings.

Again, many thanks!

Have a Great Cruise! :D :)

We just got off January 6 and we stayed on the 10th deck room1001 and there was a lot of movement. It is a quiet floor. We were on the ship by 11:30 eating lunch. Have fun and bring plenty of meds with you because the weather has not been that great for cruising ! Lots of big waves.:(

Has anyone noticed that there are only 3 excursions offered in Mo Bay? Should I be worried about taking my family there?

In the beginning of December, I noticed quite a few. Then at the end of the month when we went to book one, there were three. After January 1, I saw a slew of them (and seemingly more expensive). Now you're only seeing three ... hmm ... I don't know. Do they sell out, and then decide to add more? Are they trying to help out businesses that don't usually have popular excursions, hoping to only show a few thinking others will pick anything in case they run out?

just wondering does anyone know if the pool is open all the time or does it close at 10 or 11 at night.

Pool and Whirlpool Hours:

Forward Pool 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Main Pool 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Aft Pool 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

The gym has a large whirlpool also, it is nearly half the size of the swimming pools. It's open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

I have a couple questions. My DH and I have sailed on the Conquest before, but it was almost five years ago and we were definitely more party mode than we are now (even two years ago prior to marriage we were, LOL -- amazing how that happens, isn't it?) I was curious from anyone who has done the supper club on Carnival. Anyhow, our first wedding anniversary is formal night on our cruise, and we were just talking about doing this. We did it on the Valor in 2006 and it was good, but I do want to hear from someone who has done this on the Conquest.

Secondly, since it is formal night, we aren't going to look silly if I'm in my long formal dress and he is in a tuxedo, correct? Same rules apply or no? I love getting dressed up for formal night, and I thought it would be really nice for us to get a photo that night all dolled up :)

I love the Conquest, it's hands down my favorite ship (including port intinerary), so I can't even explain how excited I am that we have booked (finished booking about a half hour ago) this and will be on it for our first anniversary :)

edit: We have a bottle of Dom that we got as a wedding gift and we want to use it on this night (it is a very special night, after all), and my next question is -- can we give that to them in advance so it will be chilled for us and ready to go at the supper club?
