Arubalisa - Question about cab fare

Your advice on everything is so helpful! I read where someone posted that we should be sure to set the price with a cab driver before we get in because one of them tried to charge $20 for a ride that should have been $10 according to the rates set by the government. They said that the rates are not negotiable but are all preset. But how would we know what the rate should be in order to be sure we are getting charged the correct amount? Is there a listing anywhere that tells what the price should be from certain points to different destinations?

I just came across the cab fare information Arubalisa posted in another post below so I'll put the link in here for you - its good to know - I printed it off for myself because we'll be there in a few weeks.

Arubalisa is an invaluable source of information - thank you!!:)

The above link appears to be working now, but then again, that is now .

Also, if you know your exact destination(s) beforehand, there is a very detailed pricing chart for fares from Oranjestad (cruise terminal) to various parts of the island http://taxiaruba.com/new/farelist.html and then other parts of the island to elsewhere. So, say if you went from Oranjestad to Palm Beach and then later had a taxi take you to say, a restaurant in Noord or Savaneta.

Also, don't forget on Sundays, official holidays and after midnight there will be a surcharge of $3.00 to the regular fares. Again, all fares in Aruba are per car, not per person and taxis by law, are only allowed to take a maximum of 5 passengers.
