Demographics of the Pride over President's week

We are planning a cruise on the Pride over President's week of 2008, 2/17 - 2/24. Our group of 20 cabins averages about 35 or so in age. We have a group that are in the 23 - 28 range, and we are curious of the general age make-up of the passengers, on past cruises over the same time period, past and present.

We are trying, as best as possible, to avoid a ship whose average age is 50 or more. We experienced this on the Legend over this past Thanksgiving, with many of the same people in our group. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Our group of 33 will be on the Pride this year during President's week. Many schools in CA and in the northwest have this week off, so there will be lots of kids and families of all age ranges (which is our group also).

majority of passengers will be between the ages of 3 and 12!!!! :D :p UGH! I'm cruising during that week too (on Elation), and i'm sweating it out a bit (about being completely overrun by kids). hoping (SO MUCH), that i do not regret this ... and believe it or not, i have 3 kids!

Truecruiser, we are a bit worried about the same thing, but I think it'll be manageable. We just won't frequent the more common kid places very often. We have a couple of aft wrap suites and many cabins in the same area so can use our own balconies alot, visit the casino, the aft adult pool, we have late dinner seating (fewer kids usually), etc. There are ways to avoid some of the masses.

Ctrain -- i see now that you are talking about 2008. and i'm guessing you don't yet have it booked.

i wld say, if you are not travelling w/ kids, and can be at all flexible w/ dates, you will probably be much, much happier picking another week -- any other week, except maybe easter (spring recess).

there will always be kids on carnival (plenty of them), but during president's week in particular, i'm expecting bedlam. i love kids (especially my own :D ), but if i was going w/ a big fun group like that, i wldn't want it to be during one of the busiest kid weeks during the year. if you can even do it the wk b/4 or the week after, i think you'd fare better (on booking prices as well).

but, i thought you said you had kids going w/ your group? i think it'll be managable for you if you are used to having kids around, even if it's bedlam -- hey i feel like my house is bedlam half the time (i can walk to crazy from here, no need to drive me to it :D :p :D ). but we shall see in 3 weeks' time...

Truecruiser, actually, not as many school districts have this week off as you think (believe me I did alot of checking when we set up for this week). The reason we are going this week is for my husband's 50th birthday and 2 other friends' birthdays in that week. We have one 14 year old in our group also. Alot of Northernern CA schools are off that week (my area) as are many in the north east (NY, CT, etc), but not many in Southern CA or in the middle part of the country. Not like summer or Christmas or even Easter. There will be lots of kids for sure, but not a summertime level.

i hope you are right about not many having off. but, i'm not as optomistic. i couldn't even get a flight when i tried to book only 3 hrs after the flight schedule opened up without working backward 2 days. they were all gone. our friends who booked a couple of days later couldn't get only get one flight, from only one of our 3 area airports, and it was over $500pp -- almost more than the cruise when you break it down. insane.

i cruise most often in summer, and while i find many kids on board, i don't feel overrun. summer has many weeks for people to play w/ dates, and i have never had an air problem during any summer cruise like i did for this feb break cruise.

Fortunately most in our group are driving distance from the port so didn't have the flight problem. One couple in our group who live in CA are leaving their kids with grandma and grandpa because they have only the Monday off during the week, so I guess it's all over the board as far as school schedules. Good luck to both of us!!!

Cathyz,

Thanks for your willingness to communicate your impressions of your upcoming cruise. I will be looking forward to your report. I also have researched, and agree that not all schools across the land are off President's week.

Truecruiser & Cathyz,

As a rule we don't let kids on these ships cause us to not enjoy ourselves. To be honest, we much more prefer the life that kids supply, as opposed to the relatively "Dead" ship we were on during this past Thanksgiving. My wife runs a home based daycare, so kids are not a real concern.

Truecruiser,

We have reserved 20 cabins for our group, and have deposited on several of them. We do not have "Kids" in our group, although that can be a relative term. The youngest in our group are several 16 years old, but the average age of the group is in the mid 30's. My wife and I are 48 and 50.

We have to cruise President's week due to the timing of the break from schools in our area. Several of us are taking our high schoolers out of school for 3 or 4 days.

I to am concerned about the avalability and price of airfare, and we will have to be very alert when the fare are available.

Thank you for the responses
