hardingk Posted January 31, 2007 #127 Share Posted January 31, 2007 We are still heading toward Mexico...It has just been announced that a Crew Member is in need of Medical attention, and we will be going to Cancun, MEX for a medical evacuation. We should arrive in Cancun in just under 90 min.(9:30AM) This will delay our arrival in Miami. They suggested that we will be posted on the delay as info is available. I hope everything is OK with the crew member. . . I will keep everyone posted with details as they are available. . . Radio Wow - must be really serious. Too bad you can't spend the day in cancun! emcee207 Posted January 31, 2007 #128 Share Posted January 31, 2007 turn of events, we too hope things work out. Radio, following up on someones earlier post, are you a "Ham" radio guy? Not my thing but my Dad was W1JSQ for many, many years. Or in his words "W1 Japan Sugar Queen" He would do "phone patches" for exchange students back in the sixties. I had lots of fond memories growing up listening in with him. Hope you get some good sun on your sea day and thanks again.
JWJs Posted January 31, 2007 #129 Share Posted January 31, 2007 That is an Earthmate GPS Device by Delorme, that is connected to my laptop. I use it to track the position of the ship for speed, distance, proximity etc. . . I also have a Garmin portable handheld that I take on every cruise. The Earthmate provides much nicer dispalys on a laptop monitor. While checking the GPS this morning...it looks like we may have altered our course and may be stopping...see below. Our speed is 21 kts, and our heading is 254 (SW) I hope everything is OK. . . Radio Hi Radio. Thanks so much for responding to my question.:) I was also going to ask you how/where you got your position display maps that you have shown on this wonderful thread of yours--so now both questions are answered. I will be looking into buying the Earthmate GPS Device by Delorme. Our laptop is on our "always take" list so we would be set to hook up the Earthmate. Our Garmin GPS doesn't show the latitude and longitude lines nor can we hook it up to our laptop to produce a position map picture. Also, it's not a handheld. Bet you take your handheld Garmin on shore with you and put it to good use. That would be neat. BTW...Garmin lives right here in our area...Olathe, Kansas to be exact. He flies a wonderful private jet out of the Johnson County Executive airport. His wife wheels a cooler of soft drinks right up to the plane. Sorry to hear about the Crew Member's medical evac need and hope he/she makes a rapid recovery. You all take care and thanks again.

I was a Store Manager for Radio Shack 20 years ago, and we were given free AOL service. My screen name had to be RADIO and our store number. When I signed up with Cruise Critic, I just used Radio. Rare Radio Posted January 31, 2007 Author #131 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Hello Everyone… The Crew member was just picked up by a Mexican Naval Vessel. I heard it was a Deck Hand with Appendicitis. We are now heading 60 degrees ENE at 21kts. I will post some pics later…. The daily announcement at noon by Captain Mitropoulos should provide details about our arrival time in Miami… Thanks for tuning in… Radio ;) ;) . Have a wonderful day at sea - it looks like you're having a nice day today! Beth
JWJs Posted January 31, 2007 #134 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Hi Radio. Good news about the Crew Member's evac by the Mexican Naval Vessel. That was timely. I've been checking the Earthmate GPS devices out on different websites. WOW...the prices are very reasonable compared to what I paid for my Garmin 4 years ago. I looked at the Earthmate map examples via different software bundles and not seeing the right one. Which Earthmate and software bundle did you you get? Rare Radio Posted January 31, 2007 Author #137 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Hello everyone...We are on our way back to Miami...The Captain suggested that we have 323 nm to go (at 12N) We should arrive in Miami by 10AM. Four Complimentary L/D Telephone stations have been set up at Guest Relations for passengers who did not not book air with Celebrity. If they booked Air w/Celeb...they will be handling the changes. Also, Internet will be complimentary for changing flight times... from 1-6PM JWJs: The Delorme device is Delorme Sreet Atlas 2007. It comes with the software and GPS. RDangerIII : Yes they have 3 Card Poker in Fortunes Radio Mexican Naval/ Coast Guard Vessel arriving to pick op Crewmember. They were given a huge applause when it was completed ! ! . CRZCHIC Posted January 31, 2007 #138 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Thanks Radio for the live update. Been on numerous Carnival Cruises but my next one will be on the Century. I leave on the 24th of March, Cabin 1092. YAHOO!! I was wondering if you could tell me if they have 3 card poker in the Fortunes Casino, my wife loves that game. Thanks for the post, I feel like I'm there already My family and I will be cruising next April. We will be in room 1092 - anything you could do room decription wise would be helpful. Is the balcony private? Is there much noise from the pool deck? Thanks and happy sailing!
signman Posted January 31, 2007 #139 Share Posted January 31, 2007 1092 would not have any noise from the Pool Deck. It is below the Islands Cafe buffet, and most likely the windows of the cafe would preclude anyone from leaning over your balcony.

JWJs Posted January 31, 2007 #143 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Hi Radio. Thanks again for all of the information and pictures that you gave all of us!:) I just told my husband that "Radio" disembarks from the Century tomorrow morning. He said "ahhhhhhh" which means he sure knows the feeling. It sure has been fun going on this cruise with you. It was awesome for us here in the midwest where it's snowing AGAIN. Have a safe journey home.:) :) Best regards, Jeanie of the JWJs
Rare Radio Posted February 1, 2007 Author #144 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Hello everyone…. The final day is almost over, and I wish I was sailing another week. It is a shame that the new boarding passengers who have waited a long time to board this ship, will have a delayed embarkation time. I’m not sure of what time it will be, but they resent a list of debarkation colors, with the last color to be called at about 12N, I am guessing that new passengers can start around 2PM (But I would call Celebrity to be sure) Debarkation will begin at 10:30 w//express walk of passengers first. If we are Miami by 10AM, I will have a lot of time to post more photos and answer any unanswered questions. The Head Waiter in the Grand Restaurant was able to copy every Menu for the whole Cruise….Very Nice…I will post all of them when I get home Sunday. Today’s Movies in the Cinema Deck 6 FWD are “Capote” and “Walk the Line”. I went to the new Sushi Bar on Deck 11 AFT, tonight, and it was very, very good! I purchased Pre Paid Gratuities, so the Waiter and Asst will get their tip! The ship is alive tonight with Production Shows, busy Casino, and a late night Comedy show! I will report back tomorrow from Miami! Thanks for tuning in… Radio ;) ;)

Rare Radio Posted February 1, 2007 Author #147 Share Posted February 1, 2007 It was just announced that we will be making another Medical Evacuation at 12:30AM -1AM in Key West for a fellow passenger. The Cruise Director suggested that an announcement will be made by 8AM tomorrow with details on our arrival time in Miami... We are currently sailing at top speed to get to Key West as fast as possible.... I will post details as they become available. Tagoladad Posted February 1, 2007 #148 Share Posted February 1, 2007 I hope all is well with both the passenger and crew member. I’m sure that it’s not normal to have two medical evacuations on one cruise (much less a 5 day cruise). I hope all is well on the Century as well. My brother-in-law who has lived through three marriages, teenage daughters and the Florida real estate market, is sailing for the first time on the Century later this month, and is terrified of Norovirus. My wife and I have sailed several times without incident, but we convinced my BIL to take his first cruise. Hope everything will be all right. Radio…Great job getting copies of all the menus. Can’t wait to see them. I’ve done the same thing with the dailies on our Royal, Disney and NCL cruises. Thanks for all the great reports.
