Cracker Ken Posted January 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2007 I'm doing a back to back on Valor starting on 4/29/07. I've never done a back to back before either. I booked a guarantee, so I may have different cabins each week. Not a big deal. I've read before that the cabin stewards will assist in relocating your luggage. Also, the majority (if not all) the reports I've read on back to backs (also known as B2B's) say that you have to leave the ship and go through immigration, then turn around and come right back on the ship. I believe passengers doing B2B's and immediately re-enter the ship after disembarkation from the first leg of the cruise. For a good part of the day, you kind of have the ship to yourself. I'm looking forward to it. I'm interested in information about how Carnival does this too. Ken

CCLNCLRCICRUISER Posted January 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2007 We are doing a back 2 back cruise on the Liberty and was wondering if anyone else has done one and give us some pointers. Thanks in advance Dot This is what I wrote about Liberty Back2back on another thread On the last night of your first cruise, you will find a letter in your room detailing the entire process. It will list a time to meet with someone from the pursers desk in lobby area. You will have to wait until the last person from the first cruise is off the ship. They will escort you and anyone else doing B2B down to the customs area. The agents barely looked at our forms :D Carnival Staff stayed with our group ( I think about 15 people did B2B) the entire time. Before we even left the ship the staff person pulled the new S&S cards and had them waiting for everyone after we cleared immigration.I actually cant remember if we took a second picture, I know the entire process from meeting staff and getting back on the ship took less than 30 mins. We were back on the ship around 11ish and had the ship to ourselves for about 1-2 hours. Another perk of doing a back2back is buying liquor onboard. Any bottles that you buy on the first leg will be in your cabin the last day of your first cruise. Or you can just wait for the last evening and buy what you need for the second cruise and carry it to your room. Its really great to compare the two cruises and not feel sad when the first cruise ends, you can skip a show on the first cruise and pick it up on the second. If you like your dining staff they will normally let you keep them for the second cruise. On our cruise everyone received a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our cabins on the second cruise. I didnt have the same cabin for both cruises so on the last day of the first cruise my room steward moved all my stuff to the new cabin for me. dbrucern Posted January 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2007 Have not done B2B but have had many friends that have and since we were thinking of it their only warning was if you win money in the casino and put it on your S&S card (which is what I do to play the rest of the week) you must take it out the last evening. Apparently it does not carry over to the second week of the cruise and my friends were upset to find out that a check had been mailed to their home and they would not have the money for the second leg of their cruise. zaandam_2 Posted January 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2007 here's an alcohol-related tip for b2b people: when you buy it at the ship's store the final night of the 1st cruise, they let you take it to your cabin. they don't track who's doing b2b so you can stock up for the second cruise. dotheyes Posted January 28, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted January 28, 2007 This is a lot of help. I appreciate all the replys. We are lucky enough to have the same cabin; so I guess we won't have to pack and unpack. Lots of great tips. Woohoo ole ole dot:)
CalgonCruiser Posted January 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2007 I did the Fascination B2B, I only had to go to the Pursers office, to get new S&S card (they already had it on board) the last night of the first cruise. Never had to deal with imigration, until end of second cruise. Planning on Fantasy 5 day, B2B next later in the year. Yippee :D Enjoy your vacation !!!
