Venice - Port to Airport

I posed this question on the Venice sub forum but thought I'd try posting here too....

 

The ship docks in Venice at 5:00am. Once customs clears the ship, disembarkation will begin. Is a 12:55 pm flight out of VCE cutting it too close on disembarkation day if cruise (RCCL) transfers are used?

 

We plan on flying to LGW and then spending a few days in London before flying back...

There is only one route that connects the dock area to the airport, and when we made the transfer in '05 there had been an accident that blocked that route. We milled around the cruise terminal for over an hour until the accident jam was cleared and the busses could get to us. We still had plenty of time to catch our plane, but accidents can happen. The airport was well organized and we were able to check our bags and get a boarding pass very quickly.
