Hello. Does anyone know the name of the song they played the last night in the dining room (Pacific-late)? It was a reggae sounding tune that the waiters jumped up and starting dancing to. Perhaps they play the same song on all ships. Thanks.

I just got off that sailing on the Victory and I was in the Atlantic Dinning room, and I was wondering the same thing, it had a great beat to it. It's called something sexy. I just can't think of the first part....

I wasn't on board the Victory but I read the post. Your saying the song had a reggae beat and said something sexy. The song that comes to my mind is by Shaggy-Hey Sexy Lady. I doubt this is it but it is worth a try. I know i heard this song on my Paradise cruise last summer.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just checked on Amazon and listened. Wasn't that one. It's a much faster beat. I thought one waiter would dislocate a hip (yes it was that good). I wrote to Carnival. Hopefully they can help.

The cruise was really good! However, I was disappointed in the weather, but what can you do. I am going through withdrawl right now. I had to go back to work today, and felt overly hungry! lol...

 

I asked one of the members traveling with me, and they said it was called va-boom sexy, or boom boom sexy or something in that line... My waiter said the title to me before they danced, and I just can't recall!! grrr...

 

How did you enjoy the cruise?

Wow...we have to find out the name of that song!!! Haven't heard anything back from Carnival about it yet. To be honest I was quite disappointed in the cruise. Turns out I'm always disappointed with Carnival. I prefer some of the other lines. Our waiter and assistant were really great though. I can't believe they didn't make the ship warmer. Everyone was freezing. Most people I spoke to on the ship were livid about it. Where are you from?

This was my 7th cruise, and my second on Carnival. I agree with you, I prefer some of the other cruise lines aswell.. my favorite so far is Princess....

 

I was disappointed with a few things with the ship. For one, I was disappointed that they put the rated R comedy show in the Adriatic Lounge, and not in the theater. I was one of the people in that lounge that had to stand for the half hour of watching the show. Very uncomfortable. Secondly, I don't think the ship had much for everyone to do in on the second sea day. It was rainy, cold, and crappy, and there was nothing to keep us busy inside.

 

I am from South Jersey, and this cruise was just a quickie for my fathers birthday. We just wanted to do something special for him, but I am not too sure if I will be returning to Carnival. The food was terrific, but I still don't they are up to par. =(

 

Did you e-mail the cruise line to ask them the name of that song??

HI. I totally agree. Was not worth the money. There was absolutely nothing to do the second sea day. And even if you wanted to spend money, the shops were limited. I did e mail Carnival but haven't hear back. I posted another thread and the song is eith called Bomba or La Bomba by Azul Azul. I found it under Bomba on Amazon. I just have to find the right remix.

Thanks for the heads-up about the ship being cold. I will be sure to pack accordingly. How was the weather in Halifax? What did you do there? Was it ever warm enough to swim on the ship? I have never cruised North before so I don't know what to expect weather wise and I really don't want to overpack. We went to Cape Cod in August a couple of years ago and even though the weather was sunny it was not warm and we needed sweatshirts even in the day. I am just wondering if that is how the weather will be on this cruise.

 

Also, did either of you have a balcony? If so were you able to use it much?

Did you have cell phone service on your cruise or while in Halifax? Not that I plan to spend the cruise on the phone but this is my first cruise without hubby and family and just want to know if I can be in touch if I need to.

 

Also, how does tipping work on the Victory? Do they charge your sail and sign and if so how much?

 

Who is the Cruise Director on the Victory? How was he/she? Did you go to any shows? Any good?

 

What time did you get to the pier? We are being picked up by limo, will they be able to drop us off right in front of the terminal? We are being picked up at 10:00 a.m and should arrive at the pier around 11:30 depending on traffic. Can we board at that time?

Hello there. Let me try and answer some of your questions. First, it was very, very cold on the ship. In all fairness, the weather was crummy. But they should have adjusted the AC. They didn't and people were miserable. The day in Halifax started a bit cool and overcast. We took the amphibious tour. And by the time it was finished (about an hour), at about 11:30, it was sunny and war enough for shorts. We walked around town. They have some nice shops. I always hit the grocery store there also. They have different spices and candies there. Also, it's fun to look at how they package things diferently. Oreos, etc. Silly, but I like to do that. Anyhow, we got back to the ship around 3 or 3:30 and the skies opened up and it poured the rest of the day. So you were stuck in the cold. The one warm place on the ship, aside from the cabin was the back pool area. It's where they serve the pizza and burgers. They can open it up or close it accordingly. A lot of people were in that pool. Beware though, it is extrememly slippery. My son fell three times. And he really wan't running. He would walk from the pool and as he got near the table, down he went. So I walked him back and forth. I wrote about this in the comment card but I"m sure we won't hear anything back. My cell phone worked in Halifax. I have Verizon. Didn't really try it on the ship. However, the calls from the ship weren't so unreasonable. I think they had a special of $2.99 a minute to call out. May be cheaper for your family to caLL in. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I forgot something.

Sorry....we drove to the pier. Got there about 11:30 and we were on the ship about 12:15.

My wife and I were on the Victory for 7/22. We had cabin 8434 in the rear and we were able to use it quite a bit. Yes it was was really foggy but that wasn't any surprise. Don't go expecting blue skies and 85 degrees - ain't gonna happen. It's just a different climate than what most cruisers are used to. We rented a car and drove to Peggy's Cove - BEAUTIFUL. We got back to the ship just before the rain started so it didn't bother us.

 

I agree that it was cold, the elevators were SLOW and the aft deck was slippery. I saw a little girl go flying into to the air and bounce (she was running). Scared the crap out of me! Then the mother comes running and SHE fell. Otherwise, we had a great time. We hit the spa a couple times (massage - MMMMM). The show we saw was pretty good. Won some money in the casino - play the Wheel of Fortune slot machines (every time I watched someone won something).

 

We're going to be doing a Western Carribean cruise next and I'm sure we'll have a good time there too! Take care.

I agree with what everyone said, the floors were really slippery by the pools.. I slipped I can't tell you how many times, but fortunitly I never fell. I never used the pools, but I used the hot tub after we left port in Halifax, and it wasn't even hot, just warm. I fog was terrible, you looked outside and you couldn't even see the water, it made you feel like you were flying, rather than sailing.

 

In Halifax we rented a car from Budget, and went to Peggy's cove, The memorial site for Swiss air flight 111, shopping, to the best coffee place in all of Canada (Tim Hortons), Titanic Museum, and back to the ship about an hour before sailing. It was a great day. The morning we wore seatshirts, and by mid afternoon they were off.

 

We drove ourselves to the pier, and we did not arrive until 1:00 and was not on the ship until 3. We would have been there earlier, but we got lost! It took so long to get on the ship, because I am originally from Canada and am now a legal resident of the US, and we had to go in some sort of special line so they could get a special piece of paper from us. Let me tell you that we were TICKED! we had our fun passes filled out, and it didn't matter. Plus the person the checked us in didn't even speak english and we a foreigners in front of us that had no idea how to pill out their paper work. Talk about nightmare!!! So after we went to that line, we had to go back into another line to get our sail and sign cards.

 

The ship was freezing, not much to do, the only thing I loved was how everynight there was tons of pictures through out the ship to take pictures. I found the ship super smokey, but our dining room staff was amazing. I hope you get that lucky!!! =)

Oh about tipping..

You can get them to tip automatically on your sail and sign account, so thats 40 dollars a day added to your account, but we went to the Pursers desk and told them that we wanted to do it ourselves, and we did. We decided how much money and everything..

 

I believe standards are 3.50 for room steward per day

and 5.50 per day for the wait team in the dinning room

I used my cell phone in Canada and had service, but I have Verizon too...

Secondly, Sailing back to NY, I went up deck about 1:30am and saw that we were close to land, (Long Island to be specific) and I was able to use my cell phone then too.

 

I did not have a balcony, and am glad that I didn't. People that did I heard were disappointed... It's still nice to have, but not point with the amount of fog.

I also used my cell phone in Halifax. I have T-Mobile but it's one of those world phones so I can get service just about anywhere. The real question is how much that phone call cost me!

We did the tipping ourselves too. Cost us much more, but I like to have control over whom I give money to. Whether it's the person shining the glass in the elevator or room service, I like to do that myself.

Funny...there were a couple of Tim Hortons that we passed. The one we walked into though looked just like a Duncan Donuts.

I agree about the balcony. For a trip to Canada, it's really hit or miss. This would have been a big miss!!!
