sun~ Posted July 30, 2008 #726 Share Posted July 30, 2008 Hi Is this a good area? What about a cat 11 Deck 11. What's up with the catagorys they are all inside so what is the difference besides the deck? Please help We were on the Gem in March. My hubby and I had a AF mini suite on deck 11 and our boys were across the hall in an II inside cabin. The inside cabin was extremely small, fine for two people who like each other :) My boys did not kill each other after the week, so it was ok. I don't think there was any difference in cabins, they are just more expensive on the higher decks. However, deck 11 was a fantastic location. Very close to all the action. The Gem is a great ship and do try everything - restaurants, bars, casino, clubs, the bowling alley and rock climbing. Awesome!
Hotheels Posted July 31, 2008 #727 Share Posted July 31, 2008 My daughter and I were in D118...Mini-suite on the Golden Princess. We loved the room and balcony, but directly across the hall was the service door for the workers. We heard their swinging door flapping ALL night long and they came in and out! They were talking and laughing, and worse yet...every time the door opened cigarette smoke would come into the hall and right under our door. It took me a few days and a phone call to find out why we kept getting cigarette smell in our room and they told me it was fromt he service area....it came right under our door!! The ship was full so we could not move and they told me to put a towel on the bottom of the door to keep the smoke out. It worked only while we were in the cabin....if we were gone for a few hours we came back to a smelly room. Now that I know what to look for, I will never book a cabin near a service entrance again.

CinArt Posted August 1, 2008 #734 Share Posted August 1, 2008 We were on the Carnival Valor last year - balcony 6th deck in about the middle, and this year Destiny - balcony ~8276. Both times there was some BOOM, BOOM, BOOM of a bass - some kind of entertainment that went on until 2 or 3 in the morning every night. I never said anything, but I should have. Anyone have a suggestion where the better rooms are located.

Your cabin on the Destiny is located under the buffet- -its carpeted so you shouldnt hear nothing-- but if you can move down to empress --same area-- you will have a better experience

sanibel Posted August 11, 2008 #744 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We're considering booking a guaranteed room on HAL with balcony. Always before we've booked specific cabins but that was always on RCCL. Has anyone had experience with booking a guaranteed room on HAL- good or bad? Thanks. Cabins above and below and no worry about public noise. Your cabin is located under the buffet area--which is carpeted so no worry about noise from that area anyways. If you want a bigger balcony for the same price--go take one across the back..

6xgrandma Posted August 12, 2008 #747 Share Posted August 12, 2008 Do not book a cabin just below the "Movies under the Stars". We had such a cabin on our Princess Cruise in January. It was our 9th cruise and the worst vacation of our lives. We love to sit out on our balcony in the evening. We could not do this on this trip. The door to our balcony vibrated constantly and so did the walls in our room. The first day out after our sleepless night we thought we could catch a nap, but guess what? They also have movies under the sun!!! I complained at the Purser's desk and was told someone would call. No one did. So the next day I complained again and someone was sent to our cabin. Nothing was ever done about the noise. When we arrived back home, I contacted our travel agent and she gave me an address for Princess and I wrote to complain. They sent us $400 credit for another cruise.

Cabin lovely but midships is just under Lido pool area and each morning at 7am woken by staff putting out the sum beds. chromey Posted August 14, 2008 #750 Share Posted August 14, 2008 Anyone have any idea if 6427 on Carnival Conquest is very noisy? It looks like it's just above Sushi Bar, so I wouldn't imagine it'd be too bad.
