mncruiser64 Posted January 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2007 We are sailing on the Carnival Elation on 2/8 with our 3 yr old son. I do not want to leave him on the ship on the port days. We will be in Nassau (only from 7am-2pm) and then in Freeport the 2nd day. Suggestions for good excursions we could take him on? We like to snorkel but at least the ship sponsored snorkel excursions do not allow you to take children. Do any of the independent companies let you take them with (my DH and I could maybe take turns)? Any other suggestions for excursions or activities (either independent or ship-sponsored) would be much appreciated! Thank you!

mncruiser64 Posted January 29, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Thanks for the link. Unfortunately we will be in Nassau on Sunday from 7am-2pm, and this tour only leaves (for 5 hours) at 10am on Sundays, so it won't work for us. Any other suggestions? It doesn't have to be snorkelling. We're willing to try other things as well - just looking for something that will work with a 3 year old. We were considering Atlantis, but I'm not sure it's worth it for an $80+ day pass for the amount of time we have.

How about the zoo with marching flamingoes. it's just outside of town. easy to get to. www.ardastra.com
mncruiser64 Posted January 29, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Thanks. I think I'm leaning towards the zoo or Atlantis. If we decide on the zoo, do you suggest we take the cruiseship tour that takes us there (and I think to do some shopping) or go on our own? How far is it from the port and if we go on our own what is the best way to get there? I think I read somewhere you could take a bus but is that a safe way to travel with a 3 year old? Thanks for all of the suggestions and information!
cruisin' 4 fun Posted January 31, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Atlantis is very nice, but don't go just for him. I barely remember it myself, and I was there only a few years ago. I'm curious too, we will be bringing 2 very young ones in about a year, and don't want to venture more than walking distance from the pier. What's there to do in Nassau besides Atlantis, the zoo, shop and the beaches? Any favorite snack places, or something we could take the kids to?
