Snorkeling in Antigua?

We are visiting Antigua for the first time. We enjoy hanging out on the beach and snorkeling directly from the shore. We are looking for anyone that can suggest a beach accessable by taxi where we can spend the day. We have snorkeled Accra Beach, Barbados, Coki Point and Secret Harbour, St. Thomas, Coco Cay, RCCL's private island Dzul Ha, Cozumel and have done the Jolly Pirates snorkel tour in Aruba. Anything along the lines of these adventures would suit us.

Thank you for your help!

We snorkeled in Antigua, but it was on a boat excursion.....nowhere near the beaches of Antigua. However, if you go to the port of call section for Antigua, there is an individual aptly named "Antigua guy" who answers individual requests concerning Antigua. Hope this helps!

Just back from NCL Jewel 1/21 cruise. We also love to snorkel. Based on research, I had decided to go to Deep Bay, which is close to St. Johns and has a sunken (1905) ship in 30' of water. The cab driver talked us into going to Long Bay on the other side of the island (bigger cab fare). The snorkeling was terrible, dead coral, waves pushing us onto the corals, and almost no fish. Beautiful beach, though. We later heard that the snorkeling at Deep Bay was very good. Cab fare is $10 (per cab) to Deep Bay, $25 to Long Bay each way. He even tried to upsell us to a full island tour.

Just get off the ship and tell the first taxi arranger that you want to go to Deep Bay, and don't let them talk you into something else.
