Black Sand Sighting?

Decided to rent a car on Maui so that we could get to the Lahaina area and back without being rushed. Is there any chance of catching a glimpse of a black sand beach between the POH port -- Ka'anapali Beach and Old Lahaina? Or if there's something fairly close to the port in the opposite direction, maybe we can check it out on our 2nd day.

There are no black sand beaches in west Maui. As best as I can recall, the only black sand beaches on Maui are way out near Hana, like ad Waiapanapana. You'll just have to do with gorgeous, spectacular beaches with ordinary golden sand.

Perhaps you're thinking of Punalu'u, which is in the Big Island and about equidistant from both Hilo and Kona (about 60 miles). It's currently the best and most easily accessed black sand beach in the state.
