Trinidad

We have just returned from Trinidad and would go back at the drop of a hat. It is probably one of the most civilized islands we have been to. We found a wonderful gentleman, named Ty, to show us around and go where the ship's tours do not go. We had a full day of touring, including a trip to the beach, with a lunch of bake and shark (which is delicious by the way) and we also got to hear the steel drums, a trip to the Monastery, a visit to a cricket match, and then we went to see the Carnival costumes on display and being made. Ty is a wonderful person and a great guide. If anyone is looking for a great time in Trinidad, please write to Ty at tytrini@yahoo.com and see if he is available to show you his beautiful island.:)

When you get to the Port there will be Taxis. The best tour is to go to Maracas beach, about a 50 min drive through lush rain forest and mountains breaking out on to the North coast. Try the famous shark and bake there. The port area has alot of construction going on so you would want to get away from there. Carnival is the 19 & 20 feb so if you cruise before then there will be alot of carnival related events going on. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

We just got back from a cruise with a stop in Trinidad. The Welcome area had people to aid us in selecting guides for the type of tour we wanted, taxi, small van, large van. We were lucky to get Daniel Moses who is a tour guide for a company that provides tour services for the larger hotels. He was great but unfortunately does not have a web address, just a phone. 1-868-784-0213
