Southampton connections

We are taking the QM2 on 8/15, and then taking the Grand Princess on 8/21 which is the same day as the QM2 docks. Does anyone know if the 2 ships will be docked near each other or are we to expect trouble making the transfer?

Despite the fact that both lines are owned by Carnival, neither seems to know anything about the other. In fact, when we wanted to book the return air (which is at the end on the Princess leg), we were told by Princess that they didn't do one-way air and that we had to get it through Cunard (even though we weren't returning until 12 days after leaving Cunard). And I still don't know which line is going to provide the transfer to Heathrow when we get off!

QM2 is on the main Cunard docks at pier 38/9, Grand Princess will be at the normal P&O docks at pier 106. It is at least two miles between the two terminals so it is going to be a taxi trip. The taxi will be less than ten minutes and cost about £5.

See this picture http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/pic77/qe2_jul06/pic/qe2_jul06_135.jpg taken from QE2, you can see the ships in the centre of the picture on the P&O docks. You will see a similar view from the stern of QM2 when you dock.

It is correct that Cunard are the most appropriate to be doing your return air. However, In your situation (your air has been deviated) you may need to do your own connection to Heathrow (someone else may have more info on this). The insider tip is to take a five minute cab trip up to the http://www.nationalexpress.com coach station. They do a very efficient direct connection to Heathrow.

Enjoy your adjoined cruises.
