Grand Cayman excursions

We need some advice...my wife and I are torn between 2 excursions while visiting Grand Cayman in March. We've narrowed it down to either the 2 hour Island tour or the semi submarine adventure. Has anyone done either or both of these? Any advice? Although we do have time for both we kind of only want to do just one excursion; doing both sounds a little too hectic for 1 day.

much better. A air coditioned bus takes you to the Hell post office, to the turtle farm and other places of interest. A suggestion, we have done the stingray city catamaran tour and it is FANTASTIC. Even if you don.t like getting in the water like my wife, the catamaran ride and seeing all the stingrays is great. I believe they also have a tour combining the island tour as well as stingray city. Whatever you choose I'm sure you will have a great time.

You're gonna have a great time in Grand Cayman. We love everytime we visit there.

Suggestion: if you haven't already done this, it's awesome. We booked our own excursion with Captain Marvin's for the stingray excursion. Check out his website for info:

They are so professional & personally helpful before & during your trip.

Another suggestion: we have rented our own jeep/car & driven ourselves around the island & seen everything at our own pace. (You don't have to "waste time" waiting on other's to get back to the bus if you're done with that particular stop.) The maps are good & the island is not that big that you can get alot accomplished/seen during your stay there that day & back to the ship on time.

Whatever you decide to do, have a blast. It's a fun island, at least we've always had a great time there.

We've done both. We weren't really impressed with the semi-sub. The island tour was decent. If those are your choices, I'd opt for the island tour. We hit the turtle farm, Hell, the Tortuga Rum factory, and some other general sight seeing on our tour.

I personally preferred the submarine tour to the island tour. The turtle farm was nice but wasn't that impressed with the stops at Hell and the Rum Factory. I enjoyed seeing all the fish on the submarine. We did find that doing two tours in one day was a bit much because you don't have that much time at Grand Cayman. We had no time at all for shopping.

Now that I've been there once, I would probably hire a cab to drive around the island and then drop us back at the shopping district.

We've done both. We did the 6 1/2 hour Island tour, and preferred it little better over the sub. More diverse with things to see and do. I would have rathered snorkeled than just did the sub. Yes, Hell and the Turtle Farm were really nothing, but we enjoyed the Blow Holes, Rum shoppes, Pedro St. James, and just seeing the Island. They also gave us time to shop in Georgetown.

I agree, if you haven't been to Sting Ray City, it's a must see. If you into snorkeling at all, Grand Cayman is the place to do it. We chose this trip to do the Aqua Boats with the 3 snorkel stops.

We did the tour and really enjoyed it. Our driver, Benjamin, was terrific.

It was a great way to see a bit more of the island and still have time at the end to walk around.

We were one of the first cruise ships back on the island after the hurricaine and it was quite the experience to see what it did to that beautiful island.

We loved the turtles! Both hubby and I got to hold one and we have the 5x7's up on the office wall!
