Parking in New Orleans

We are leaving on the holiday July 31 and would like to know the best/easiest place to park.

The N.O. Port Authority has a lot adjacent to the ship's berth. The rate is $12 per day, payable in advance, CASH only. It's very convenient, has a gate to walk through for a one minute walk from the lot to the terminal. The lot is open-air, fenced in, and has 24-hour security.

Should that lot be full - and it often is:

Fulton St. Garage/Hertz is located about 3 blocks from the pier. They have comp shuttle service to and from the pier. Rate is also $12 per day; however, you pay when you return and they do accept credit cards. They have tiered, covered parking.
