Seven Mile Beach is a 5.5 miles long ribbon of sand along Grand Cayman's western shore. There are many popular spots along this beach, and each of these sections has its own name.

Public Beach, Sea Grape, and the Courtyard by Marriott beaches are adjacent sections of Seven Mile Beach and popular destinations for day visitors.

Closer to the port is Beach Club Colony or Royal Palms. Beach Club tends to be more crowded. I tend to be surprised that Royal Palms is mentioned so little on this forum.

Pretty much all of the beaches on Cayman can be described that way. :D It's one of the reasons my DH and I love the island so much.

I agree with drew... Seven Mile Beach is probably where you want to head, and it's a short and fairly inexpensive cab ride from the pier. Just keep in mind that the hotels are pretty protective of their amenities, and don't sit on any chairs or use any umbrellas that happen to be out (unless you buy a hotel day pass, which almost all of the major hotels offer).

We just took our 2 daughters (9,10) to the part of 7 Mile Beach next to the courtyard by marriot. It was beautiful! It cost $10 to rent a lounge chair and they gave you a free soft drink or bottled water. It wasn't crowded and we snorkeled right off the shore and saw lots of fish.
