26Martini Posted February 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Are there any good "deal" days to get jewelry or liquor on board (Noordam) and what was the best purchase you made on a ship? Also do you have to charge purchases to your room or can you pay in cash? Thanks, Lauren:)
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Anything you buy on the ship in any boutique goes onto your shipboard account -- it is a cashless society on the ship. The liquor has some specials for those taking bottles off the ship at the end of the cruise. But remember that most airlines will not let you take it as carry-on -- has to be packed in your suitcases.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2007 You will get flyers from time to time in your cabin advertising watch sales, inch of gold, etc --- nothing really good -- JMO. The shops have gone downhill the last few years -- again -- JMO.
ekerr19 Posted February 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2007 You must charge shop purchases. The only cash used would be in the casino, for bingo (if desired) or for gratuities; though even the receipt for spa & salon purchases now offer a place to add if tip, if desired. You will be inundated by sales literature and ads, usually sea days feature "sales" on shop merchandise. The fine jewelry is not often put on sale, though some pieces may be had for what might be considered a "good deal", usually less than jewelry stores in the U.S., anyway. I purchased a very nice piece on the Noordam this past summer. They offered a small selection of items in a Mediterranean style, and I purchased a nice pendant fashioned after a medallion found in a Spanish cathedral. It is really nice, I've not seen anything like it.
