uddanielle Posted June 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2004 We are both very interested in learning more about, sampling, and purchasing wine from the Provence area. We will be docked in Marseille. Can anyone give any recommendations on areas to focus on in that region, or even specific vineyards or "cave cooperatives" that would accomodate us for a few hours? uddanielle Med Splendour 2004 WC Brillance 2002 SC Adventure 2002 WC Voyager 2001 Semseter at Sea (Royal Olympic's Odysseus) 2000
FANC6 Posted June 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2004 We were on the Splendour last month and we took a tour from Marseilles with Catherine D'Antuono. We went to one winery for a tasting only - Chateau Du Seuil which was near Aix-en-Provence. Since it was a Sunday some of the other wineries were not open. The best wineries are near Chateauneuf duPape in the lower Rhone valley which is further away from Marseilles. Hope this helps! Andym Posted June 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2004 uddanielle, We vacationed near St Tropez a few years ago and called into a 'cave cooperative'. It certainly occupied us for the afternoon. We were all absolutly sozzed and can't remember how we got back. Most of it was free as well.
