Hebejeebe Posted February 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Does Carnival charge you a corkage fee in the dining room if you bring you own wine with a screw top??? Ha Ha. That's a good one. If that's a serious question, the answer is yes.
dndcruise Posted February 9, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Not serious. but I may try it in October and see what kind of reaction I get from the waiter.
Cotton Posted February 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Again - "Corkage" is charged for the privilege of bringing your own bottle of wine to a dining establishment - not for the physical act of opening a bottle of wine. So, yes you will be subject to a corkage fee. However, most times the waiter will not charge for it; seems to be at his/her discretion.
kujobie Posted February 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2007 I must have the bad luck of the Irish cuz I get charged every time. Still cheaper to bring a $6 bottle of wine and pay the $10 corkage than pay $32 for the same bottle on board.
VentureMan_2000 Posted February 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2007 I prefer to sit my box of wine on the table next to me, so I don't have to bother the wait staff... :D

Cotton Posted February 10, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Me too, Duck. Sorry, Kujobie. In all my cruises, I've taken at least one or two bottles of wine to the dining room - never been charged corkage. Oh....and I AM Irish!:)
Socref124 Posted February 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Does Carnival charge you a corkage fee in the dining room if you bring you own wine with a screw top??? Like everyone says, you are subject to a corkage fee, but most servers do not charge you. Remember, they want an extra tip from you at the end of the cruise. They would rather have that $10 than let Carnival have it. I have heard that some WILL charge it though, so I guess it depends on the server or Maitre D. rich_r31 Posted February 11, 2007 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2007 I have never been charged either. I immediately tip my waiter $5 after he opens the 1st bottle. Since I bring a bottle with me to dinner almost every night, it saves a bundle.

I would think the box wouldn't be considered "fine wine":p
Cotton Posted February 12, 2007 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2007 Nah, he doesn't do that. People often make jokes about taking boxed wine. Venture has a quirky sense of humor at times.:D
