Cruising the Eastern Seaboard

Ocean Wave

Recommended Posts

We are considering a southern Caribbean cruise starting from New York with 2 days at sea outbound/inbound traveling on a Voyager class ship with RCL. We are from the UK and have never been to New York before so would like to combine a short stay there at the same time. Our main worry is what the weather will be like in February/March sailing down to the Caribbean as the Atlantic can be unforgiving at times. Whilst we appreciate that the weather can be unpredictable it would be useful to have fellow travellers experiences on this route at this time of year. My wife has not got the best sealegs but survived some rough weather in the Med late last year albeit on a much smaller ship. Would the Voyager series with its sheer size dampen down any rough seas we were to experience?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.:o

Howdy Ocean Wave!

Welcome to Cruise Critic and the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! Forum! 04.gif

Thank you for your inquiry regarding your cruise. However, you have posted on the forum where members find the "How to ..." type of information for using Cruise Critic's software such as avatars, signatures, countdown clocks or tickers, attaching pictures, etc. It is not the place for your type of post and the information you seek is off topic here. 05.gif

Per the Community Guidelines and to help you out, I am moving your thread to the Royal Caribbean International Forum where it will be on topic. The new location for your thread is the best location for more of your fellow Cruise Critic members to see it and to be able to help you with the information you seek.

Since you will have a short stay in New York, you will enjoy researching threads on the forum named East Coast Departures http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=415. You will find threads there concerning information about New York.

I hope you don't mind another friendly 05.gif suggestion, but you might want to read the Community Guidelines and FAQ. Especially the "Getting Started" section in FAQ. You will see how a new topic should be consistent with the specific forum you choose. It also gives a brief summary of the topics covered in some of the forum sections. Click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/index.php for the list of all the Cruise Critic forums and be sure to read all Announcement and Sticky threads at the top of the various forums for additional information too.

I sincerely hope this will be satisfactory and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!

I can't say specifically from New York, but know that people have said that sailing along the east coast can be a bit rough. We were on Explorer 2 years ago and had extremely rough water several nights and the ship handled them well. Some nights we had 25-30 foot swells and noticed the motion on those nights.

Feb/March is winter, so the weather can vary. This winter has been mild, which is great, but never a guarantee.
