Rainbow's End amusement park?

Two-pronged question:

 

1. hubby wants to do the Sky Tower and Kelly Tarleton's; for 15 NZ $ more we can get passes that let us into those two plus The Rainbow's End amusement park. Has anyone been there? Is it worth spending our one pre-cruise day in Auckland on?

 

2. We are staying at the Hilton Auckland, right by where we meet the ship. What is the best way to get to Rainbow's End? We love public transportation, if available!
