Paper vs. Edocs

How do you know whether you are going to be getting paper (is it still the little book?) or edocs for your cruise?

Hi Justin,

 

Your TA will inform Celebrity of your wishes, as far as your cruise documents are concerned. Tell your TA what you want and make sure that they make the proper request. It seems that the default position is that Celebrity will issue e documents if the TA doesn't specify your choice.

Either way you should still check in online. It will save you time when embarking.

Thanks for the replies. I think our travel agent specified paper documents.

 

I've already checked in and printed our express passes. What do you do with the express passes when you get to the pier, exactly?

You still have to checkin at the pier. You hand them your passports and the credit card you will be charging with. They verify the info (like passport numbers) and then give you your sail passes after you sign for the credit.

 

There are less forms for them to fill out (example again, the passport info) and less forms for you to sign so it shaves some time off.

When you go to check in you should have you expresspass form, ID (passport), and credit card inhand. They check your ID, swipe your CC, hand you your boarding card and you are on your way. Otherwise they have to leaf through you ticket book and extract the relevant pages, verify that they are correctly filled out, check your ID and then enter the information into the computer.

 

The time saved with the express pass is only a few minutes per person, but when you mutiply that by hundreds, it can speed things appreciably.

Just got edocs for the first time and looks fine, but do we exchange the page with the luggage tag information at the dock with the porters? Always had the tags in the book and attached to the luggage upon check-in. Thanks

I was concerned about that too. When you arrive at the dock with your luggage the porters will attach tags on your bags with your stateroom number and your luggage will be at your door when you're allowed to go to your room. That is the way it was handled when we had the E-Docs for our last cruise on the Summit in San Diego.

Thanks So Cal Gal, Will be on 3-17-07 Summit sailing to Hawaii. Second time on Summit in the last 18 months and can't wait to enjoy a beautiful ship.
