Just the Pitons?

Would anyone know the time/distance from the Ship to a beautiful view of the Pitons?

 

We have something else planned for the afternoon but I don't want to miss seeing the Pitons and I don't want to count on the ship possibly sailing by for a view.

 

My thoughts are to get in a taxi to go see them before our scheduled activity. Is this doable? Anyone have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
