Law and Order

Recommended Posts

The ship has full time security personnel. They handle monitoring people boarding and exiting the ship as well as examining what you are bringing on board. Most of their at sea duty is to deal with belligerent drunks and kick underagers out of the bars. They are very capable of dealing with your ordinary unruly cruisers. As for when a major crime occurs (Rape, Murder) the ships security team will deal with the immediate needs and then turn over responsibility to whatever law enforcement agency has jurisdiction and that depends on where the ship was when the crime occurred.

Now someone correct me if I'm wrong. While the overall crime rate on ships is quite low (so long as we don't count being drunk in public), the rate of prosecution and the conviction rate of the accused is almost non existent. So while the cruise lines do endeavor to keep you safe, if something does happen don't hold your breathe waiting for justice to be done.
