starprincess Posted February 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Any one have any insight on the Princess excusion in St. Thomas - ferry ride to St. Johns and tour? :D
Nana G Posted February 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Did this a few years ago and it was great. About 45 min ride to St. Joh's then bus around the island with a few great photo stops. Then back on Ferry. Have returned to St. Joh's 2 times since after this beautiful introduction. Lovely island and great tour.
chopper825 Posted February 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2007 NanG, thanks so much for your input. Do you remember how much time you have in each place that you stop. Is it an open air bus or a regular bus. Are you mostly at the beaches or inland. Sorry for so many questions but we have learned from past mistakes with these tours and don't want to make another bad choice. Would appreciate any further information. Thanks a million. axel26 Posted March 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2007 Yes, the ferry ride is about 45 minutes. Go up topside for the ride. It can be a bit bumpy, but nothing too bad. Beware of water spray. The ferry leaves either out of the warf in Charlotte Amalie or from Red Hook, which is a short taxi ride from the ship. The "buses" on St Johns are open air pickup trucks with cushioned seats in the back. There is a canvas roof to protect you from the sun (or rain). Roads are steep, narrow and winding, so hold on tight. If you get a chance, as part of the excursion, snorkel at Trunk Bay as there is an underwater route marked by arrows. There is a small, but delightful, shopping mall at the dock in Cruz Bay. We like St. Johns and have been there a couple times. A good place to snorkel is Cinammon Bay, which is up the road from Trunk Bay, but it is not part of the tour. B&J

B&J The underwater route you mentioned at Trunk Bay must be the "Underwater Snorkel Trail" I read about. Sounds fun. We will be snorkeling during our stop at St. Thomas and had narrowed it down to doing so at Saphire & Coki and/or Trunk & Cinammon Bay. I doubt we can see all of them, so would you suggest Trunk and Cinammon? This snorkel trail really has me intrigued.
starprincess Posted March 6, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Thanks for your help! Booked the excusion through Princess. Makes me a little nervous going to another island and making sure we get back in time.
Nana G Posted March 7, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2007 StarPrincess, sorry it took me forever to get back. The bus was a covered bus, regular tour bus. We stopped a few times but not at a beach. Saw 1 beautiful beach from top of a mountain. Other stops were maybe 15 minutes. The ferry ride was bumby but sit uptop and hold your hat down! St. johns is beautiful and we have returned to Honeymoon beach since this trip and doing a 1/2 day catamarran in April.
Martin and Lindsey Posted March 8, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2007 What is the timing of your 1/2 day catamarin trip in April to St Johns? :) We're hoping to do the BOB/BOSS trip and wonder if we have time to do this as well.
