Port of Civitavecchia to Rome..how long?

Recommended Posts

Yes, the train ride from Civitavecchia to Rome takes about an hour. Make sure you check train schedules before though or you may be waiting at the train station for over an hour for the next train. Also DO NOT take the express train, it does not stop at the St. Pietro station. I would get off the ship as soon as you are able and head to the train station right away. You're cutting it close.

Have FUN!

You can check the schedule at

http://www.trenitalia.com/

On a random date I found two options for you:

Departing Civitavecchia 8:41 or 9:02 and arriving at Roma San Pietro 9:27 resp. 9:57.

Both trains leave enough time to walk from the station in Rome to the Vatican. The entrance to the scavi tour is to the left of the basilica past the the border and guards. This is the same side you enter the square coming from the station.

Just make sure to leave the ship as soon as possible.
