Cashless Society?

Recommended Posts

Still another question(s) for y'all. Cruising for the first time in three weeks - Grandeur of the Seas. I've read about this Sea Pass acct. I understand that it's pretty much cashless on the ship. What about the casino? Do you have to put that on your Sea Pass acct too, or can you use cash there? What about ship boutiques if you make a purchase? I'd just appreciate knowing where you can use cash other than for tips, so you don't have to charge everything.

Thanks.

The shops, pictures, spa, etc are all on your seapass account. Cash is okay in the casino, but you can get cash there and have it put on you seapass, which is also a great way to getting extra spending money for the ports.

Yes, pretty much cashless. As stated cash can be used in the casino as well as putting it on the seapass at the cashier. Another place you will need cash is for tipping if you choose to use room service. This tipping is not included in the suggested tipping. Have fun on your cruise.

You secure your SeaPass account with either a credit card or cash up front. I've always used my credit card, so I don't know what happens if your charges to the SeaPass start to get close to the amount of cash you've put down. I would imagine they'd call you down to the desk to arrange for further payment.

I thought about taking some of my surplus cash at the end of the cruise and putting it on my SeaPass account so the charge to my credit card wouldn't be so high, but then decided to bring the cash home and use it to pay the credit card bill - that way, I get the points on my credit card!
