Touring Queen Mary after disembarking

Hi All,

 

Just booked my first Carnival cruise!

 

I read some posts about touring the QM right before embarkation. Since we plan to arrive at LAX Sunday morning, I'd rather plan on touring it right after disembarking. I figure I'd schedule a 12:30 pm airport shuttle, and tour the QM if we can disembark by 11 or so (is that realistic given we're not VIPs), we'd have plenty of time to tour it, if we disembark later, we just wait for the shuttle.

 

However, if we successfully disembark that early, can we just pick up our checkin luggage after the tour, or is that a bad idea?
