Douglase Posted July 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2004 We just watched the Travel channel that featured the Pride. Does anyone have any insight about this ship?
tinydancer21 Posted July 31, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I'm sailing on the Pride September 5th! When was this program on? Did it say when it would be on again? Was it really cool? (Can you tell I'm a little exited? haha) :D
Douglase Posted July 31, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 31, 2004 The program was on tonight at 8 pm. It was the cruise chosen for the "best activities." Not sure if it will be on again. Sorry
CruiseVirginfromBrooklyn Posted July 31, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I was on the Pride last summer (2003) to Bermuda. What would you like to know? I can tell you the Pride is now my favorite Carnival ship, although we'll be sailing on the Valor in the winter...so, we'll see :D Things I liked about the Pride: the alternative restaurant (Davids) well worth the extra $25 but, I do think they tend to hype it a bit much, they advertised it as being sold out and it wasn't true the night we attended...so don't assume they're full, always check! I loved the general layout of the ship. A bit different from the Destiny class type ships but, once you get the idea in your head, you'll find it easy. Loved the gym and pool. Loved our category 11 suite. Things I disliked: the decor well, it's a bit much, don't get me wrong, MUCH BETTER than the usual neon stuff but, it is gawdy, after a week, it got on my nerves. Sorry, that's about it. It was a great cruise with a great itinerary with a great crew and a great CD (Corey). Food was good to excellent, a marked improvement over our last Carnival Cruise in 2002. Casino wasn't bad, played slots, didn't win but, I wouldn't call the slots overly tight. That's about it..... Ask away, I'll try to answer Vinnie
glrounds Posted July 31, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I was on the PRIDE in May. Fantastic ship. Just absolutely gorgeous. Had a great time. :) There is a terrific review by marklodi that details the entire cruise in great detail. First time cruiser and he didn't miss anything. See if you can find the review using the "search" feature. Kathy should be "chiming in" any time and she can tell you even more about it and she also wrote a nice review. :) I'll gladly answer any questions if I can. It won't be long and we'll have a great review I'm sure from the great state of Alaska ! ! :D :D
mohavemommy Posted July 31, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2004 Wonderful ship. The west coast was really needing a classy ship, and they got it in the Pride. It was moved to the Mexico itinerary about a year ago.
kajsb Posted July 31, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2004 You're right Gary! I'm not far behind. ;) I think we must live on these boards. The Pride is a fantastic and beautiful ship. Here is a link to the thread I posted on my awesome cruise. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=42729 Douglase, the review Marklodi wrote is wonderful. I printed it out to take on my cruise as a travel guide. :D Mark sent me the entire review in a word document since his reviews had been posted in separate threads for each day. If you would like a copy, send me an E-mail at kajsb@aol.com. Please identify your E-mail with cruise critic so I don't delete it thinking it is spam. His review is a must read.:)
SSSkipper Posted July 31, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I have been on the Pride twice already and just put a balcony room on hold because I am seriously thinking about leaving next Sunday Aug.8!! I will decide by tomorrow! I recently bought two yorkies (puppies) and have to see if I can get someone to puppysit now! The Pride is a great ship and you should have a wonderful time. I always do! Hopefully I will get to go next Sunday!
CruiseCATnMACK Posted July 31, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2004 We were on the Pride in December and had a wonderful time. If you click on the WebShots link below you can view our pictures. I also have a review that was posted on the old boards that I can send you via e-mail if you are interested. Skipper you don't by any chance live in the San Bernardino Co. area do you? We are looking to network with others in the area for a doggie exchange. We have one dog and two cats so we know what it's like when you want to vacation. SSSkipper Posted July 31, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I don't live in California, I live in Las Vegas. Hope you find someone to exchange your puppy and cats! I know it is going to be hard for me now to vacation, but our vet does take care of animals while clients are on vacation and plus they have those doggie hotels. I have heard the hotels can be expensive, the same or more than regular hotels for us! Good luck!
CruiseCATnMACK Posted July 31, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 31, 2004 Yes, it can get expensive. Our dog is only 5 months old so this is a new issue for us. The cats have always been easy but with a dog the rules have changed. No more hey lets go to Vegas at 9:30 at night; plans must now be made well in advance. We will be going to Vegas in September and are taking our dog with us, he will stay at the America Dog & Cat Hotel located at 2900 Patrick Lane. Ricks Posted August 4, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 4, 2004 Its a great ship, I was on her the second week that she started to sail. There really nothing more I say that was not already said. Check out my pictures and I have a lay out map of the Pride. I had room 6277 mini suite balcony. I had detailed pictures of the room.
cmez Posted August 4, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 4, 2004 Loved it!!! We sailed on Pride back in 2002, what a beautiful ship!! I'd definately sail on her again!
Cruising89143 Posted August 4, 2004 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2004 I agree with the posters above. The Pride is a great ship. She is a Spirit class ship which IMHO blows the other Carnival class of ships out of the water. A great passenger flow that does not feel crowded which is something that you do have feel on the Destiny/Conquest class.
waterbound Posted August 4, 2004 #17 Share Posted August 4, 2004 The Pride has a special place in my heart because this was my first cruise!!
