Captain's Circle

Has anybody had any dealings with these people. At the end of January after booking on the Grand for September, I wrote to them to establish that we had previously sailed on a Princess ship and get this recorded. We are NZ citizens and live in NZ.

Below is the response I received

Thank you for your recent email. We kindly ask that you contact our Cruise Specialist at 1(800) PRINCESS or 1(800)774-6237. Again, thank you for taking the time to write us, until we may be of further assistance, we send our kind regards.

I subsequently did as instructed, I had to hold on for ages, yesterday I received my telephone account, this little exercise which got me absolutely no satisfaction cost me $25!!!! I was told I needed a US address. So I emailed them my address while I am in the US, that of my sons! I also read that there are benefits of having sailed HAL, so I also sent our Mariners numbers

I have emailed them on the 6 February in answer to their first response, and I was hopping mad because I realised on that day that the phone call had cost me a lot of money for absolutely zilch.

I have since emailed them on the 23 Feb and again yesterday the 2 March. They are not responding to my mail, can someone please tell me, am I deliberately being ignored? I am absolutely, totally amazed at their PR!

Perhaps I am out of order, what do others think?

HELP

Val

I've had success when I have called the Captain's Circle with a question/problem, but as with any phone bank, you may or may not get someone who actually knows the right answer.

Many work from a script, and may or may not have any real experience with the ships. I do believe that many of the entry level people answering the phones have never seen the ocean, let alone a ship! True "valley girls".

Although many people don't care for "snail mail", I think often it is the only way to get results.

I realize it is no consolation, but from personal experience I have found that Princess Captain's Circle doesn't seem to respond to e-mails. When we were on Island Princess a month ago, the OBC for DH's owning 100 shares of Carnival Stock didn't show up (and we had faxed the info before we left). The Purser's Office checked with Princess main office and was told that we weren't entitled to it, but if we wished we could contact Princess directly. My first e-mail to them was responded to by telling me that since I was on the ship, I would have to deal with the Purser's Office (passing the buck to someone who had no ability to help). I e-mailed them twice asking for help, and to date have never received the courtesy of a reply. I hope you have better luck - I'd hate to be paying your telephone bill for the lack of service. Nancy

If I am not mistaken, being a resident of NZ, your captain's circle status does not count like it does for U.S. and Canadian Citizens. I know, it doesn't sound fair, but they target P&O down under. If sailing on a P&O ship, we do not get the same types of captain's circle perks we would get if sailing on Princess. Owned by the same company, but just as Carnival and the rest, each is it's own indepentdent cruise line.

That could be the reason you are getting the run-a-round when it comes to your captain's circle status.

Guess what I have had a response from Captain's circle, exactly the same as the one I received almost one month ago, the rest of my correspondence has been totally ignored.

I suppose I must wait until I get up there and then get stuck into someone when its not costing me anything to ring them.

I am sure you are right, but to not have the courtesay to answer in a polite fashion staggers me. HALs Mariners Club is most definitely not like this. What really sucks is if you have sailed P & O, try getting a discount on Princess out of Australia, no way. You must have previously sailed Princess. So why not Captains Circle.

Oh well good old Kiwi perserverance, I can only have my bit of fun hassling them. I believe they have a representative from Captain's Circle on board is this correct, does anybody know?

Cheers

Val, I know what you are going through, we have Kiwi friends that now live in AU and it was a pain trying to get things done from Sydney for them. They would email me, I would call Princess, and do what I could to take care of their questions for them. Saved that long distance charge and I could usually get satisfaction from this side. Sorry you are having such problems.

I have slept on this one and during my dreams it suddenly occured to me that I got another form type letter answer to my email.

I THINK THAT THE CAPTAIN'S CIRCLE READS THESE THREADS, AND CAPTAIN'S CIRCLE I THINK YOU STINK.

I know ships personnel read CC because the hotel manager on the Statendam when I was down at the port meeting a crew member in January told me so :D
