Non-Smuggling Wine Question

Recommended Posts

I read in another thread that you can order wine online and have it sent to your stateroom. Does this only refer to going through the cruise line, or can you order from private companies that will deliver to the ship? Also, if we bring the wine to the dining room (can you do this?) and do they charge a corkage fee? And how much? Okay thats a million questions! Thanks for the help!

According to RCI, they no longer have the corkage fee because you aren't *supposed to* bring alcohol on board. But some have been able to take wine to the dining room that has not been bought from the cruise lines. I would think since they still allow these deliveries from companies...

well some say it is supposed to be consumed in your private room, while others have taken to dinner. And then some have been charged a corkage and others not. I think it just depends on who, when, and where. Hope you are satisfied and enjoy your vacation either way.

You can order from a private company if you wish. We used Shelley at Just Because of You (http://justbecause.addictscay.com/) to deliver some wine and hard liquor to the cabin. RCI charges $5 per basket, so she put it all into one and it arrived while we were at muster. We did drink it in the cabin, but we brought some C&A wine to the dining room and the waiter opened it without asking for our Seapasses, so there was not corkage. I believe that this varies from ship to ship. I think the fee would have been either $10 or $15, but since it was never charged, I don't know.
