Paradise Island

I was watching a show lastnight about Paradise Island and was wondering about the huge aquarium they have. How much will it cost and is it worth it? And since we are going by ship and not a guest at the resort are there any other things to do at the Island ?

Hi, I assume you're talking about Atlantis...have stayed there twice as a resort guest. I loved it both times. I have no idea what the charge is to visit as shore excursion but, when staying on the property you KNOW when the cruise ships are in...things get a bit crazy and busy. I'm not sure if you have use of the full resort or not but, maybe someone else can add their experience as a vistor. I can only tell you it is worth it when actually staying there...I can't say one way or another as a visitor for a couple hours.

We were on the Carnival Fantasy in May 1997, when we docked in Nassau and took a cab to Paradise Island. There was a hotel resort there and we did some gambling. We walked the caves of what seem to be an underground aquarium, but there was no charge. We just walked through and when we came out, we ran into O.J. SImpson and his children. This was during the time when he was trying to escape from the pressures of the media and the trial of the murder of his ex-wife.

The cave system you mention is supposed to be the lost city of Atlantis. We did a paid excursion through the cave system and the aquarium, however, I did notice that we probably could have gone on our own, especially if we had been gambling at the casino. By doing this you miss the narrative of the tour guide, which may or may not be worth the money, depending on your point of view.
