Grumm Posted March 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2007 For anyone sailing from Southampton this summer (or any other port for that matter), do you think it would be a good idea to have a voluntary collection box...let's say everyone contributed a nominal 1 Euro, 50 cents...etc...etc....to cover the cost of a band to play at the quayside as the cruise begins? I feel that this would add an extra dimension to sailaway and would rekindle memories or feelings of when the old liners left port. If I get a positive response, I will contact RCCI with my proposal. Hope to hear from lots of you soon! Alan
montekat Posted March 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2007 When we sailed on the Jewel in Sept. we had a great send-off at almost every port by bands (not Plymouth as it was a tender port). It was so wonderful to have them playing as we sailed away. Great memories!

Having never experienced a quayside band,I appreciate your comments, Here's hoping that more people vote for a sailaway band, so that I can contact RCI with my proposal.
